Lexus LFA in GT1?

Just got this from the GT1 page on facebook.

If so...

... hot damn.

Comment at will.

Edit - (I would take this rumour with a pinch of salt. The website believes they are going to Le Mans, and if you remember they can't if they build a GT1.)

Subaru_WRX_STi has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
if that happen it will be great !!! now time for the Italian/German prototype to move away ^^

Just reading the last paragraph tells me to not put a lot of stock in that particular rumor:

Ah, it's either someone forgot GT1's can no longer race at Le Mans or the website got the rumour late.

Why is the Le Mans race the catalyst for arguments?

It shouldn't be, the LFA in a World Championship is great news for the FIA GT1 Series and a blow the so-call experts in the media that want to squat down and do-do on Ratel's idea.

Look we're all Sports Car fans which is why we post here. We have endurance series and sprints series and a series with both, who cares. I'll watch it all.

Toyota and Nissan doing battle is always a good thing, where's Honda?

I'm not sure why Le Mans gets mentioned in every subject.

Anyway, hopefully Honda will make a production of their current Super GT car.

Good spotting there. Hopefully they just got that last bit wrong and not the bit about the car actually racing in GT1. Would like to see it happen but I guess it depends on whether there will be a championship next year and also who will race the car.

Did you see a rumor that the GT1 series is on the ropes???

There will be a series next season and where will be a race in North America, I am almost assure you of that.

HD Streaming online and Bloomberg coverage. Maybe JUST maybe Speed 2 will finally be available in time for next season as well.

Reading the Martin Bartek article on Speed TV.com there could be ways to alter the car to be eligible for GT2 - pending on the car I suppose.
It would be great for the GT1 W.C if this did happen and if the car could be used wider in Europe, USA and Japan, it would be great

Time will tell I guess

If a GT3 can be made into a GT1, then I guess this shows how flexable sportscars are.

It would be nice to see Toyota/Lexus back in GT racing. Period (SGT doesn't count to me). That LFA would be stunning in race trim.

Sounds interesting, but if Vitaphone go to Lexus, then who gets the Alpina?

Phoenix? Hegersport?

I'm not suprised that Vitaphone is leaving the MC12. Its needs too many waivers to race.

The Vitaphone livery should look great on an LFA.

I don't think its waivers at all, its likely just time to move on. This way a new car can built to current regulations instead of adapted which always has disadvantages.

Its also likely the car is no longer supported by Corsa Clienti

I think the grandfathered in cars were only given a 1 year reprieve anyways, so the MC12's time is up after this year anyways.

Are we sure Vitaphone will stay in FIA GT1? With DTM getting new rules and probably a boost I can imagine they switch back to that series.

I guess it's something of a case of big fish, small pond. If they went to DTM they'd be a "B-Team" at best.

With Opel possibly returning and Vitaphone having raced with them before they could be a favoured team-perhaps.

I'd like Vitaphone to stick with GT1 anyway, if this Lexus rumour is true, it would make sense seeing as though Vitaphone are a very good team and Lexus would be looking for a solid squad to run their cars.

Livery would look good to on an LFA

New cars are allowed next year but I don't think any of the current manufacturers will enter until 2012.
