3 weeks today. I'll be back sharing the red car for GTSCC, with practice on Friday and race before lunch on Saturday. All very civilised as usual! Will help me get home and organised for LMC departure straight after the w/end......
Sadly the most important member of the team, the car owner's wife Kate, will be missing as a scheduled lengthy op has been bought forward to the Saturday. Won't be the same without Kate in charge on the pitwall, so will doing our best for her and trying not to mess up the strategy in her absence! No pressure! |

Mike, this is the one circuit I do not want to miss. Driving the maroon Chev Camaro in Historic Road Sports.

If any of you get bored at BH, pop over to Dunsfold and have a gander at TheSupercar Event we'd be delighted to see you and any combinations of multiple £50 notes will be gratefully accepted in aid of The Children's Trust
End of blatant off thread plug. |

There seems to have been a name change for the event- now 'Legends of Brands Hatch, incorporating the Superprix'.
Answers on a postcard, please..... No timetable on the HSCC website yet, but have received the following provisional one courtesy of GTSCC- |

Suspect rebranding is due to MSV promise to big it up as part of HSCC anniversary. Much sexier than plain old Superprix. Going to be a great weekend woteva!

If anyone can't find the SuperTouring or GTSCC cars, we will be paddocked away in the boondocks somewhere- basically the tarmac car park outside the circuit, way behind race control and the foot tunnel access to it.....

As I'm not getting suntanned in Spain this weekend I might just pop up and take a look, I will be bringing some decent weather with me so you can thank me for that

Gordon, I assumed you were one of the Brands Hatch 'Legends' the meeting title refers to, so would be granted access accordingly!
Our qualifying was OK, except until with couple of minutes to go! 'On it' through Clearways, and catching a Grantura rapidly, suddenly the car in question suffered a rear suspension failure. It snapped round right in front of me and I had absolutely nowhere to go, hitting it's rear quarter with my front quarter. Only the second time I've ever hit a spinning car, and Sod's law, both times in the vulnerable nosed, alloy bodied SLR! Not happy, but after watching video from our car and the car that was behind me, it really was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time..... So last eve, while I hammered out the nose as mush as possible, the lads from Brands Hatch Morgans straightened out the front frame and tie rod, and fitted a new king pin. Lucky we were racing at their local circuit! Touch wood all ready to go again..... |

Mike you are not alone in hitting a spinning car at Clearways ! In a winter race years ago I was vying for the lead when a Fiesta did that about 10ft in front of me and put me out, but as the saying goes "that's motor racing"

Thanks Will. Had few dramas first thing when putting car back together. Main prob was nasty brake pull, but swapped few things around, cleaned disc and crossed fingers! Worked. As for result, those pesky Welch Healeys are well quick, (especially when Jeremy is driving 2 of them ), so only hope of a class podium is when one or other has problems!
In circumstances well pleased with P6, plus we got the 'Driver of the Day' trophies. Well deserved for Simon, with his better half in hospital undergoing surgery while everything else happening as well..... Gordon, only positive about hitting the Trevor in Clearways was that I could dive straight into the pit lane. Anywhere else and I would have struggled to get our car back to pits! |

What a great weekend. The best Superprix I have been to, and I have been to a few!
Well done to all, particularly liked the pre race assembly area in the paddock. Easy to get close for each and every race. Disappointing small crowd, maybe time to invite the motor clubs with special deals? DID ANYONE LOOSE A WHEEL IN THE PADDOCK? As a race team left the paddock for their homeward journey, a wheel/tyre became detached and rolled down the paddock hill until successfully being captured by Stuart on the tunnel! The wheel was of "Minilite" design with a Dunlop racing tyre. |

My good run of motor racing came to an end yesterday . I was driving the Penfold FF2000 car and throttle cable broke . Great shame as Mick Penfold widow Suzzane came all the way from Cornwall to see the car in action . We had busy couple of days Friday and Saturday with 6 juniors . Compte making his first outing this year in the newly rebuilt Britannia . Colin lost a fan belt in his race , Duncan had same problem as Peter at Spa with broken points . James let me have a go in his Gemini which was great fun and I had a P7 with that "thanks James ". Good race in rear engine junior with a P15 . Thought more spectators were there on Sunday but well down on attendance against past years . Our old friend Eddy V turned up for a cuppa which was great as not seen him for a couple of years . Good to see and chat to many other tenthers . Le Mans here we come quietly very excited 😀

Terrific meeting I thought and very well admin-ed by Brands & HSCC. I agree about the assembly area, very good for spectators and teams alike although a bit of a sprint to the pit wall for mechanics after cars leave!
The Gemini is better than at Silverstone but obviously still down on power compared to many others. The handling & brakes are a dream though, which helps to compensate. Very disappointed to retire when the fan belt went, although I was swamped on the start I got back amongst them and it was shaping up to be a great race. Hope engine not cooked. |
