NSCC Mallory Park - August 6th 1956

Thanks to those in an earlier thread, the date is correct and I have found Dad's negatives for the meeting.

Can anyone identify the car in the first photograph, or publish a link to a website that has comprehensive info? It looks as though it could have Keift wheels, so maybe a Keift MG? I don't know enough on this one.

Second photograph was on the same roll of film, but is obviously later, as there is every evidence of the vastly improved saftety features at Shaw's!

Dad, as an industrial photographer, was a beggar for taking out part used rolls of film, then replacing them in the camera much later.

So can anyone positively identify the date? The chances are that it would again have been an NSCC meeting.

RAP should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In the first photo 48 is John Fisher Revis-Borgward followed by R Schofield Lotus Bristol.

The second is a bit more speculative but the numbers seem to fit for 2 Aug 59
86 John Dalton DB3S
84 Edward Greenall Lotus XV
79 Mike Bond DB3S
with Colin Murray JBW Maserati at the back
These 4 took first to fourth in Heat 1 of the over 1200cc sport car race, although in the order Murray, Dalton, Bond, Greenall

Thanks!

Thanks so much. It just makes cataloguing so much easier with some accuracy, where for me, the date is almost as important as the content!

So many pics rely on research and others, just out and out guesswork, particularly when it is just a random car pic with no event to tie it too!

Fortunately, I kept a diary from about 1964 to 1970, then again from 1990 onwards, but the 20 years in between are tough at times...

The wheels on the Revis-Borgward at the front are a pair of Jack Turner (of Turner sports cars) detachable rim mag alloy wheels with cast in brake drums the rear wheels are Dunlops.

Originally the Revis 500 Formula 3 car had Turner wheels at both ends but when modified to swing arm the rears were replaced with Dunlop rims (as a single inboard drum was fitted). The spare pair from the 500 were used on the front of the Revis-Borgward which also had swing arm rear suspension.

Jack Turner is thought to have only made 8 rims - any one know what happened to the patterns?

I just came across this interesting thread and thought I had better put the record straight. This is Mallory park 6/8/56 and is in fact my father Cliff Dade in car no 48, He raced the Revis for three years until an unfortunate coming together with a brick wall.
I have lots of pictures including further ones of that meeting and other's and a last one of its sad demise.

Thanks for this. The programme shows J Fisher, who certainly raced it during 1956. I thought your father came later in the ownership? What was the relationship between him and John Fisher ?
