Does it matter?
It doesn't affect the content of the programme - it's merely a quick logo in and out of the ad breaks. |

Toyota said they would not sponsor Itv anymore. However the logo is still as blatant as ever on thier site. Supposedly they had not more need to advertise the way they were anymore. Who knows...

Bit of a misunderstanding of the way sponsorship, advertising and commercial television work there. But never mind. |

I liked the texaco ad break start/finish in 1997 and 1998 when that black F1 car rolled up and stopped in front of the logo and then the sound of an F1 car zooming past came in......
God. I really do need to get a life. |

Whoever it is, I'm sure will all be sick of the sight of their logo by the second race of the season.

The sound of the engine turning on ITV was really quite annoying... Why dnt they put all the ads in corrie (as this always has MORE viewers and let us F1 fans watch in peace

They should put damn Corrie on ITV2. It's rubbish. Let the F1 viewers watch in peace without having constant updates about when Corrie is going to start.

ITV is running a business - Corrie pulls in 16 million viewers. F1, sadly, does not. End of story really. |

I think what is crazy is not putting the GP qualifying onto ITV2, when they 'can't' show it live on ITV1, invariably the slot on ITV2 is showing a repeat of a programme just shown on the main ITV channel.

Since Carlton merged recently with Granada to Form a single ITV , the new management announced they would be making an annual £100M cut in expenditure and that previous managers had massively overpaid for sporting rights, and in future programme purchase would be driven by ratings to attract more advertisers and higher tariffs.
So as soon as the current contract runs out this may all be just history. |

Apparently new research shows (The Times 9/2/04) that is they have long breaks with loads of ads in it no one remembers them! So ITV might try to have less adverts! However they will be replacing th elost ads by, er, ads for their own programming!

Just about every TV/Media company overpaid for sporting rights, as the example of ITV Digital and Kirch Media testify. Overpaid is a loose term really, as they paid the going rate at the time, to secure the rights.
However, all this plays into the hands of the terrestrial broadcasters, like the BBC, who don't have advertisers and viewing figures to worry about per se, they could probably outbid ITV when the deal comes up for renewal, as the rights are likley to fetch substantially less this time around. Whether this is a good thing or not, who knows. The current GP weekend would demand quite a bit from a TV schedule, particularly on a LIVE basis, but at least the BBC has two extra digital channels that could be used, should they claim the GP rights back again. |

Alot of the TOYOTA ads said "The car in front is a Toyota!!", unfortunatly most of the time in F1 it wasn`t - end of ads due to red faces.
