DMN Brands Hatch 3/4 November

Right...the final round of the DMN championship for 2007!

This round will be over two days, we can't help that becuase of the restrictions on the timetable due to the available day light hours.

The entry date on this has had to be pulled forward to 6th October to stay in line with HQ's closing date.

Entries for this one are filling up fast and so the selection process is likely to be in action. This is where we take entries in preference of the amount of races entered.

Please get your entries in before the closing date. Those who enter after the closing date will be taken on a 1st come 1st served basis. I will take entries on race day on Oct 6th.

Please note you have been warned, so I want no complaining if people don't get an entry.

Just a thought, as we are already taking reserves and the official entry start date has only just opened; is there a chance we can buy some more track time and have split grids.

With 4 weeks to go I'm confident we can 'sell' enough seats for the 'four' races and cover the extra cost.

Plus, as the event is over 2 days, Brands only have to fit one extra race into each day.

Cheers - Andy Mitch

Entries for this meeting have been open since day one of the season, os they haven't "just opened", and many people have entered early, some even entered at the same time as they entered the 7th April Lydden event. Entries close this weekend in line with the HQ closing date and with this I am not going to be able to take very late entries as has occurred with BARC SEC meetings as I am not running this one.

We won't be looking into extra track time. We will need upwards of 60 entries and even at its busiest, with all cars running DMN has only managed approximately 45 to 50, and even when we had 12 reserves for the brands meeting at the start of the season, everybody that entered got a race. With entry fees currently at £190, I'm sure we would be looking at over £250 to cover the cost and thats just not practical as we wouldn't get the extra entries we need. Also as far as I am aware, this is a pretty busy time-table, and with the evenings drawing in it will be a battle against the light.

No worries; I've just noticed the timetable has been posted on Rod's website so I guees it would be very difficult to book the extra races now, even if we did have enough entries.

Perhaps (as the championship is growing) we should look at split grids for all Brands meetings next year as this circuit is very popular and is always the event which has many reserves.

I seem to remember there were a few disgruntled drivers who pulled their entries from the last Brands event as they were reserves. I'm sure if they had been able to race on the split grids format it wouldnt have taken much to fill the remaining spaces.

Just out of interest, how much is the track time for our races at Brands?

I am not really wanting to get into this again to be honest, as the same thing is said time after time by the committee when we have a Brands round.

We will not consider split grids unless we are getting approximately 60 cars as it is just not financially viable unless we are getting these numbers. The most we have had in 2007 is 45 and to be honest we have mostly averaged between 30 and 40. Yes brands is popular, but we are not getting anywhere near the numbers we need for split grids.

Without regularly getting 60 cars we cannot entertain the idea, especially as if those numbers were not achieved the money to cover the "missing" entries would have to come from somewhere and BARC SEC certainly cannot afford to subsidise the racing to that extent, this would mean we would have to put up the entry fees, which would probably mean that we would get less entries as people would think it is too expensive, so we end up in a catch 22.

I am not sure how much we are paying for the grid this time...but with the entry fees being £190 I'd imagine its quite a lot.

yes as chezza has said IF we had a grid and a half a long way before the closing date it could be something that we would look into, but if we dont have those sorts of numbers early enough then its just not going to be possible even if there were enough track time available,

im sure no one wants to pay £300 or more to race at brands but thats what everyone would have to pay to cover the costs if we had split grids but failed to have two nearly full grids

There is an "overflow" grid the next week on November 11th, where BARC south east have bought space.

The sports and saloon race is on Sunday 11th Nov. We cannot add another DMN round as it is a championship and its rounds are defined in the regulations which are agreed by the MSA.

On the 11th we will run which ever classes are suitable, sports and saloons, tin-tops and 1400's.

Its the entry form in the sports/saloon and tin tops section (shows the date as Saturday 10th).
The DMN races, the week before, are still over two days (as per timetable).

DMN final rounds will be over 3rd and 4th November, with a race each day as per the timetable on BARC website.

Right I am going to start another thread for the 11th November as things are getting a bit confused here.
