Expansion of an existing track:Sabana Seca Challenge
This one is a karting/super moto track that exists in the neighbourhood,I have rode my 600cc bike there and as it is right now ,it's very tight, and doesn't have a real straight. The track owner has promised he will expand the track so that bigger life forms can practice and have fun.
I have promised him I would help with the new layout, that I had a couple of friends that are very good on designing track stuff... ...so there you have it.The boundary is the yellow line, that's the land we got,it's pretty small, the track is 1 km long and we need at least 800-1000 more mts. I have already layed out something but I'm keeping my lips tight until I see what you come up with. Keep in mind, the karting section is already tight and twisty,so we need a little bit of flow, mostly. You can connect to the existing track where you see fit, track runs CCW mostly, but that can be changed. Gentleman, start your pencils! http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/309...secarawuo6.jpg Last edited by LuiggiSpeed; 30 Jul 2008 at 14:06. |

Do we have to leave the current kart track there or can we just discard some of it

Double post. Does it sort of look like a backwards Valencia?

All right. First, let me tell you that this was one heck of a challenge that was about trying to make wise compromises. The size of teh area, the required added length, safety and raceability - I found you simply couldn't satisfy all four at the same time. That's why I decided to add about the minimum length required and had to opt for leaving grand straights out of the plan. Here's what I ended up with:
SabanaSeca_2.jpg SabanaSeca_3.jpg I had to make severe cuts on the original track and kept only about half of it. To make up for the lack of a real straight I made a strongly simplified thus more flowy upper section. The track is 1,945 meters long and shuld run clockwise. |

Here's mine:http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2129000
I only just managed to extend it by the required amount - it is now 1.8km long. I have added a few reasonable straights to get some speed up on and tried to open the track out a little, but it was quite difficult. I hardley used any of the original circuit, and although i did seem to leave quite a lot of empty space, i think this is bound to happen if you want to create more of a sweeping circuit. Let me know what you think. Btw bio - I like your design, very efficient use of the space |

That's what I'm talking about guys, keep it coming!
Wow bio your design is remarkable,in the sense that it keeps the original nature of the track all the way thru, you kind of captured the escence of the original layout and took it up to the next level! |

One thing, although that corner in the upper right hand side looks tight, it is really a blast to ride, somehow it makes for the perfect overtaking spot, indeed most of the other riders were getting passed as I dive way deep and then cut to the left at the perfect apex, thus passing them on the inside, while they are still braking trying to turn the bike I was already on the gas and getting slingshoot to the next section! please don't get rid of that little part

The top left corner seems way to tight for any kind of vehicles - but hey

I have to warn, over the righ side, theres an area that can't be used, looks like a spot there, thats some dry bed that can't be paved. Not bad but you are totally ignoring the original track and overriting it with asphalt, that I can tell you, won't fly with the track owner. We need to use or not use whatever part but still preserving the integrity of the karting part, I'd just use it as an infield course and then connect the new parts to the new area. Other than that, keep going folks,I like what I'm seeing so far. |

The top corner should have been a bit rounder, more like the first one at the Norisring

Luiggi,
too bad there are requirements that haven't been set at the start. Neither that dry bed thing nor the too-much-change-isn't-good thing was mentioned before. You yourself mentioned that parts of the original track can be neglected. |

Try to join the track two places, like a supply-return on a cooling system and used the rest of the avalible terrain to make the best possible straight(longest posible and still safe) with a couple of corners,of larger radius if possible and come back to the karting section. I likes the first attempt you made(bio),it was very pleasant for the eye and your design was very in touch with the original spirit of the first track, wich was genious,IMHO. THough at the same time you put us in an even larger karting track so our headaches will only grow bigger! LOL Now help me with the upper left section, what do you see there happening? I liked the one you posted,I really do! |
