BMW M3
Whats the future for the M3 at Le Mans, it hardly set the track alight this year and with the revisons to the DTM its almost certain to return to that.
Will BMW carry on with the GT2 program? I hope it does carry one, but maybe as a supplier of stock engines, or maybe a proper sports car not a tourer. btw did anyone else notice the 3rd M3? what looked like a spare white car was parked up in the dead car area under covers, all numbered up. Near the end of the race the covers came off and caused much surprise as the car had just gone by! |

Was that the same car that was on display in the paddock at their hospitality unit?

The Art car looked great but as already said before the performance of the Beemer was dissapointing and the sound of the car was nothing special.

The ALMS version of the car is very competitive with the Corvette. Had they been allowed to run the car they have been developing there (which is the same at the N24 car) they would have been more competitive. The ACO is requiring them to make modifications to the aero and the rear suspension, plus they added restriction to the engine before LeMans. Since the car hasn't dominated any of the LMS races, I don't understand that, but the ACO made the decision to take some power away. I think it's all about BMW playing the game with the ACO to develop the car, run it, establish how far off they are and then be allowed to make adjustments. How long that will go on remains to be seen. Knowing BMW, I'm sure they will get there eventually.

The style of these BMW belongs to the tradition ; and I'd like to see one or two 3.0 CSL at LM Classic.
Ayse, think you are lucky for having seen the last M1 in 1986 ! |

No wonder the Art Car broke down so early. By the time the race had started they had already been in the UK and back to buy some of Tescos pasta meals!

BTW, that could very well happen this year, I personally would not mind if they won their class this year, but it will be hard against those bloody fast Ferraris.

I find it strange and sad at the same time. If the M3 or other cars such as the RS5 are too much like a touring car for GT racing and at the same too much like a GT car for touring car racing then where do they belong?

Who says they'll be going shopping in a supermarket necessarily? Throw away all the Carrefour bags and you might find some trophies there... while the ACO finds a broken glass sheet on their trophy cabinet.
