Fine Cotton to win race 1, if it is a wet track.

Race 2 of the maidens handicap will be won by Marcos Ambrose.

Race 3 will be won by Steve Johnson driving a VW Polo.

Race 4 will be won by the safety car.

let's just hope it doesn't rain there.

It is obvious the race directors can't operate in the rain.

Can we assume that the taxpayer funded pit area for the V8 supercars will be used for compulsory pitstops or has the Victorian tax payer been asked to cough up for nothing?

No reason they can't use the paddock area like the other support categories.

Time to write a nicely worded letter to my local MP.

I support the GP but spending taxpayer money on a temporary pit facility for a support to the main event it just unnecessary and a waste.

is Foxtel only televising V8s and Formula 1 at Albert Park? If so, why would you watch Foxtel when Ten will show every support session and more importantly HD coverage.

I don't have Foxtel, but, no ads during the actual races?

From memory this wasnt the case last year for the GP, but they showed the races in the corner of screen during the ads

Yeah, they have to do that (the same as with bathurst) as the GP is one of the events on the protected tv sport list thing.

Last year Foxtel didn't show Carrera Cup or Group A/C.I presume this year the same will apply. If 10 mirror last year's coverage they will show 3 Carrera Cup races and the Saturday GT race.
Fox having to have the same ad breaks as 10 during this meeting has nothing to do with the anti siphoning list.Phillip Island Moto GP which is also on the list is shown ad free on Foxtel. It was part of the agreement struck between 10 and Foxtel when the share deals for V8's and F1 were signed.

It's our premier Motorsport in the country which is on display to the rest of the world when the pinnacle of Motorsport visits, that justifies them being given facilities which are better than generic supports imo. We need to be representing our top series in the best way possible.

At what cost?

I think V8SC are most than looked after in many other ways at the AGP. Not sure why we need to pump there tyres because it's the Grand Prix.

Are they that precious?

I personally never have an issue with Government money spent on things that I am interested in.

For one, it creates economic stimulus and employment.

Secondly, Government money is spent on all kinds of bullshit that doesn't interest me, so at least my tax dollar is going to something I care about.

Although at least with events like Townsville and Perth there are permanent benefits to all after V8Supercars got the deals done.

Temporary facilities can't boast that, but we have temporary events all the time, Moomba is coming up, and others run all year so its a fact of life.
