This race is a mess, no idea why we are still under the SC.

Despite the SC's and that last hideous 10 minutes of SC for now reason, it was actually a pretty spectacular race. I was expecting it to be a race of attrition and crashes, as it was.
Not the last time we'll see Giovinazzi winning. I like this track. |

Seems a highly kneejerk decision. There were plenty of drivers out there who did very questionable things on track. Matsushita was certainly one of those, although I feel he's fallen victim somewhat to the idiocy of plenty of others out there, especially on the restarts.

the GP2 website says " at restart 1 he overtook the safety car before the safety car line and drove in an erratic manner and on restart two he slowed and went fast in a erratic manner, both with the word DANGER TO OTHERS. Was this the 1st time a GP2 driver been banned from a whole event?

Matsushita was a huge liability. That baulked restart sitation was a disaster and led to a number of drivers races being ruined. A ban at the next round is exactly the right thing to do!
How can a driver at this level in his second season not understand the processes correctly. There were s fair few other drivers driving like utter clowns as well, in that same incident and also at other points of the race. Serious consideration needs to be given to dishing out further penalties to them as well. |

firstly, i think *everyone* needs to listen harder, pay attention and read their paperwork better.
secondly, matsushita was just all over the place. i can't even tell if he's trying to be clever or whether he's oblivious to the rules. the weaving was ridiculous on its own without messing about with the speed to the extent that he did. it was the sheer combination of stupid that was the problem - they don't want anyone else doing that kind of thing at restarts, and the only way to prevent it is to issue bans. |

Race ban is good I think. Matsushita was a moron at the restarts.
The first one he's leading the field into the SC. Sometimes you see it get close, but it's pretty rare you have the lead driver passing the SC before it's even started entering the pits. The second one I couldn't tell which line was the restart/green line, but whichever it was he was going so slow and constantly weaving all the way way up to it, and I'm sure beyond. Why others just didn't step on it and fly past him I don't know. I think others should should have copped a penalty as well; where's the penalty for Malja for hitting another car from behind, Marciello for spearing into the leader at turn one? But Matsushita, just another erratic Japanese driver with mince in his head. With him starting on pole you'd have thought sometime over the night he'd say to his boss, hey where's that restart line? What are the restart rules? |

Bottom line is there was some amateur stuff out there, truly desperate driving from some who ought to know better and by some who probably ought to be in a lower category!
On the other hand some of the much less heralded drivers performed quite admirably amidst all the craziness. Maybe some of the drivers just realise they are rapidly running out of time and opportunities to further their careers, whilst others have much less pressure on their shoulders because they have plenty of backing. |
