Qatar Thread
As we all know this is the first race at Qatar, and judging by the results it is not a Bridgestone circuit.
Notes of interest so far are: *) Colin Edwards P1 in FP1, P2 QP1 - Hell yeah! (Okay, i'm biased, so what? ) *) Ruben Xaus' QP1 Pole. *) Roberts is of course out, with Yukio Kagayama replacing. *) The race is on Saturday. With Aussie's getting it free to air at 12:30am Sunday Morning. (And i'm jamming away at a Jazz estival, i'll have to sneak out ) My tips for the race? Edwards, Gibernau, Rossi with wildcards:Biaggi and Melandri could do some damage. |

Track map:
http://www.racingcircuits.net/Qatar/Doha.html I am not able to see qualifying sessions so I can't tell more. Poggiali was injured while playing squash and he is out of this and most likely of Malaysia too. |

There is a reoprt at Crash.net saying the riders enjoy the circuit, with it being as slippery as the wet. Max predicts they will increase lap times by seconds later today.

I have just seen the times of second qualif. My guess for races are (in order):
MotoGP: Gibernau - Rossi - Biaggi (at least, I hope) 250cc: Pedrosa - Porto - Puniet (but Pedrosa could "play for the WC" and let the win to Porto) 125cc: Dovizioso - Locatelli - Lorenzo (the wild card can be Barbera) Let's hope the races are so good as always! |

Man this track has been regulated to become my official hate track....what a dusty dull lifeless place...no spectators, nothing but sand and dust.
I was bored out of my skull today...that rarely happends. |

It's like Bahrain in F1. Flat, featureless and bland.
Hopefully MotoGP won't get as many of these tracks as F1 seems to. |

You honestly didn't think that Colin would have been allowed to pass Sete, did you?
Colin was catching Sete like a madman, only to hold that 1,6 to 2 second gap in the last laps... Coincidence? I think not! Last edited by ASCII Man; 4 Oct 2004 at 08:42. |

In the Gresini release (www.gresiniracing.com) Colin stressed that Sete ran "a realy hard race", which either means he's playing the game to get a better ride with honda next year, or he's telling the truth.
Unfortunatly all he's said on his official site so far is Quote:
