Who will be a Philip Island success and be the V8 Supercar champion

Well, well, well, biggest race in the season at Philip Island. Who will win and become champion you say? Well, last time the Tony Cocrahne and his V8 goons where there, a certain Mr Craig Lowndes got the top step of the podium, so my money is on him. Also, the HRT, HSVDT and the SuperCheap teams will go good, being their test track and know it like the back of their hands. Dark horses are the DJR boys as Mr Seton hasn't had much bad luck there (yet) and also FPR as also it is their test track and are the defending champions of that Moto GP track. So, enough of me talking, what do you good people say?

I would say Mr Seton has had some bad luck there...

Anyone remember his testing shunt there at the final corner a few years back... it nearly killed him (missed Sandown due to injury).

I reakon Skaife. HRT been strong there in the past...had a few 1 & 2 shootout results with Kelly and Skaife and Bright and Skaife.

Ingall just has to keep Lowndes and Ambrose in sight and he will walk it in.

I think Ingall needs to finish 8 spots behind Lowndes in all three races to lose it, or DNF one race.

Ambrose needs Lowndes tp DNF once and Ingall to DNF twice to win so I think his three in a row is shot.

Skaife and Kelly need Ambrose, Lowndes and Ingall to DNF the whole weekend pretty much to win it. But as we've seen in the past, imagine a big touch up off the start line with Ingall, Lowndes and Ambrosee all wearing the tyre barriers Bargwanna style in race one!

Not the way to be gifted a Championship, but it's so tough these days anyone who is in a position to win has to have done something during the year to be there.

And apart from the three main title contenders, the likes of Skaife, T. Kelly, Tander, R. Kelly, Murphy and Steven Richards will simply be going for race wins with absolutely nothing to lose. There is no point in them being conservative and I can't see them having any hesitation when it comes to trying to beat the top three.

Could this be the best Grand Final we've had in a long time? I thnk so.

Mr J Bright may have a good shot of getting a good finish, because the Island is the test track for FPR

Who will be a Pi success and who will be the Champion?

Two different questions. Going on last start form, Tander would be looking to be on the pace and it is their test circuit and HRT would be looking for a goood result to round out the year and compliment their great Bathurst win.

Championship? Ingall.

deejay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Skaife to win. Lowndes and Murph to round out the podium. Ingall will scrape into the top 10 and do enough to take the championship.

Tander has come good at HSV and will be a genuine threat for the championship next year - but doesn't quite have the car for all circuits yet.

I didn't take any notice of who won at Symmonds, all I watched was the Championship contenders< and the same goes at the Island.

To win at PI: Who Cares!

Who really cares who wins the drivers championship.A driver can cruise around all year win 1 round and win a championship Now the manufactures championship is more interesting with only wins counting & the score is 6 rounds each Bring it on

Give it up, he has raced to the rules and the pointscore. If that is a problem it is V8(whatever they call themselves this week) problem, the other 35 drivers all compete to the same set of rules and except for three they are not in a position to win. It wouldn't have anything to do with all three driving fords would it Monaro.

Interesting to note that quickest practice lap in HPDC cars would have put Macrow in position 11 in Supercars and Cantos qualifying time would have been ggod enough for position 13.

Interesting to see that nobody thinks Ambrose can do it.(win the race) He is a man with nothing to lose after all. Though Ross and Jimmy have probably told him not to bend the new "equal No. 1" drivers new car!!!!

Are you saying they're going to debut the "new" car at PI? Or that the current car will be new to a new driver?

Ingall will win but Tander, Lowndes and Skaife will battle it out for the round win. Lowndes for my money.

All the talk about Holdens ruling the roost given it's their testing track, and the top three are Fords - and an under-performing car at the top to boot.

Have you ever compared how the cars that top the time sheets in Friday practice go in Top Ten qualifying?

BTW, Jason Bright's fastest time today was just under two seconds slower than Mark Skaife's best practice time in 2001.

Sure - those three in the top 4 of qualifying, and the top 3 after the shoot-out.

It was a 2 hour prac session, over 30 laps, so a good indication of the weekend's speed, versus the shoter prac sessions. As the results show, that was indeed the case.

But the Holdens will probably turn a blinder of a lap for Qualifying to get in the shoot out and then go back to race pace, Don`t forget that they (and failure to produce a racecar) have all the info on tyre wear so they knowhow fast for how long. Lets see what happens next!!
