courageous should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridcourageous should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
'ring 24hr (merged)

Entry list is here:
http://adac.24h-rennen.de/RENNEN200...62/Default.aspx

Does anybody understand the different classes at the 'ring? - it would be nice to have an idea which of the 3 million cars were in contention for the win.

Yes, the No. 7 car is the Gransport „laboratorio“, the No. 9 car is more less the GT3 car.

Could someone explain this ? I know that the GT1 (FIA/ACO) cars are not admitted but the Zakspeed Viper seems like a GTS/GT1 car ?

I know in tha past DTM cars and JGTC carc joined the race, are they still admitted ?

Thanks

The Viper does not run in full former FIA Spec, it runs only with 8 cylinders and less power in a special category. But general you are right, former FIA GT1 cars as well as the current GT1 cars are not permitted.

Ex DTM cars are still running in the Langstreckenpokal, but not in the 24h race. It’s too costly for privateers to run them and there are no works efforts any more. Also no JGTC cars any more.

Simple, they need a bank holiday weekend to get all the people there, be it marshals, drivers, spectators.
Today is a bank holiday in Germany.

We took our truck there yesterday for the Procar event, there must have been somewhat like 50,000 people already. Madness.

We have 52 weekends in a year and these organizers have to pick the same weekend to hold a 24-Hour race? Does Nurburgring people expect to get any coverage like that, or they really don't care?

Live timing is great, but any updates on what's going on? Last year the-paddock.net had excelent coverage but this year they obviously picked covering Le Mans instead. They don't have the man power to do both, which is fully understadable. For the Germans to pick the same weekend of Le Mans is so ignorant. Racing will never get big when organizers do these kind of things. To me this is 100% the arogance of the ......

Next year if they pull this ignorance it's going to bite them in the butt if the Penske Porsche LMP2 shows up to Le Mans, because they'll lose Rockenfeller, Luhr, Bernhardt & Besseng. These guys will have gigs at Le Mans.

There was a press-launch yesterday, and we have a report on it

Pre-Race Report

We usually cover the Nurburgring 24 Hours with live hourly reports, but since Le Mans is the same weekend, we can only really concentrate on one race. However, expect to see numerous reports from the weekend, with a full race recap a few days after the finish.

Nurburgring 24hrs

Also on this weekend, but seems to atract less interest here? According to Christina Surer's website she is moderator for TV coverage, but no indication which channel! Any chance it will be one of the dozen or so I can still receive on my analogue system?
Nordschleife should be much more exciting viewing than Le Mans!!

Is Motors TV covering this race next week or in a couple of weeks?

In this topic there was already some discussion about the 24 Hours of the Green Hell.
