PWR Racing Launch New Livery
Fresh start in 2004 for PWR Racing
An exciting new livery and a new sponsor, PWR Performance Products, herald a fresh start for the V8 Supercar team formerly known as Team Brock. With talented drivers Jason Bright and Paul Weel returning in 2004 to take the wheel of their long-awaited VY Commodores and a full testing log book at their disposal, the season ahead looks even more promising than 2003, when Bright led the championship standings for more than half of the season. With most key crew members from last year's team returning, the difficulties of 2003 when off-track dramas robbed the team of its testing log book for most of the season could prove to be a blessing in disguise. "We had to be pretty resourceful last year because as the season went on, our data was diminishing and we really had to find new ways to remain competitive," team owner Kees Weel said. "Most of the same guys will be back this year and they've done the hard yards, been through the tough times and know what's expected." Bright said he was keen to get back on a level pegging with his opponents who raced VY Commodores and BA Falcons last year. "We had the fastest VX Commodore out there last year, but it was still a VX," he said. "It was obvious that once you get your VY sorted, it's a better car out of the box, so we've got a couple of test days in the next week where we are going to get the cars as ready as possible for Round 1 in Adelaide. "Judging by the other Holden teams who rolled out a VY last year, we might take a few rounds to get the cars where we need them to be. But when we do, we expect to be pushing for a podium at every opportunity." Teammate Paul Weel also held high expectations for the season ahead. "I started well last year with a podium at the Clipsal 500, but it was disappointing not to be able to consistently produce that pace," he said. "I think part of that was me, and part of that was the car. I'm a better driver after my first full season with Holden and with a well-sorted VY Commodore under me, I'm confident I can push for a top 10 finish in any given round." Kees Weel said he was pleased to welcome on board several sponsors which had been long-time supporters. "Our major sponsor is PWR Performance Products, of which Paul is the proprietor," he said. "They are expanding rapidly in markets all over Australia and into the US. An arrangement to support PWR Racing is a logical progression of their marketing strategy. "We're also welcoming back Holden, Biante and Hog's Breath Café, who have shown great faith in both Paul and this team. We're very keen to repay their loyalty with outstanding results in 2004." The #50 (Bright) and #16 (Weel) PWR Racing cars will be seen in action at the Australian Grand Prix (March 4-7) and Round 1 of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship, the Clipsal 500, on March 18-21. No sponsorship from DuPont on the car. Weel brought that sposorship to Team Brock. Also thought maybe Skilled might have been sticking with Bright
Thought they were a couple of sponsors who would have made it on somewhere. |

How much of the car is "sponsored" as such, I wonder?
Looks like another large dent in Holden's motorsport budget, much like GTR indicated earlier. |

Looks very nice, maybe we are finally going to see a major change in teams liveries. HRT should go red & black although I doubt it.

I'm sure they are still looking for someone else other than PWR to foot the bill.

Maybe they could take a sponser from K-Mart Racing, that cars got more then enough.
But seriously yeah definatley a whole lot better, no competitive car in the field has a white livery, so good choice Last edited by TBMATT05; 16 Feb 2004 at 07:45. |

An amazing difference from last year. Reminds me of a certain Falcon in the NZ V8 Touring cars

Interesting to see HSVSPORTS on the front spoiler....
The original plan for this team was supposedly to get commercial sponsorship in place to reduce the burden on PWR to field a car for Paul Weel. For example, the Ford program cost something like $1.5m a season to run when you include all the cars they built, while the season 2003 with Holden's benevolence, the cutprice Betta deal, and help from Dupont, probably halved that exposure to PWR. And Mr Weel had his best championship ever.... Here's hoping some commercial partners, or even trade partners (Notice Mobil, Atlas Copco, EA Sports, Bridgestone Tyre Centres etc etc are missing) rock up to support... |

What happen to Kees saying that no family business would be the major sponsor?
By the way, I like the livery, and I might guess and say that it's a pointer to HRT having a change in colours. Or maybe a change in one colour... |

Dumb question.... I just noticed on the V8supercar web site that this team is called PWR Racing..... Does this stand for "Paul Well Racing Racing"????? Sounds a bit silly... Like ATM Machine!!!
