Amar, Fontana wasn't "packed" for the last race there, you're right. But it was not because fewer people attended. Rather it was because the track had added about four new grandstands since the previous year -- which remain empty EXCEPT for NASCAR events.

It's one of the things I dislike about the NASCAR-ification of places like Michigan, Pocono and Homestead, all of which were originally built for open-wheel. All you see is empty grandstands, and TV viewers get the impression that "nobody goes" to open-wheel oval events.
