What might have been?
Lady luck has always played a large role in motor racing, but sometimes there is no denying that an unfortunate decision is really to blame.
A couple of examples that spring to mind from fairly recent history: Honda's decision to pull out of F1 just as Ross Brawn & co built the quickest car on the grid and wrapped up both titles. Jaguar (Ford, actually) thinking F1 was a good idea just as Schuey got into his stride in 2000 when they could have spent a fraction of the money fighting Audi at Le Mans, in a category relevant to their heritage. Any others? PS: mods, I wasn't sure which forum was most appropriate for this so move it if you wish. |
