No guarantee they are going to replace to race. With so many races already on the calendar, I see no reason why they should

Wasn't Portimao mentioned as the replacement? But later in the year, as the Chinese GP date clashes with WEC Portimao.

The BBC is reporting:
'The statement said: "Formula 1 is assessing alternative options to replace the slot on the 2023 calendar and will provide an update on this in due course." The sport will only fill the date if it can reach a satisfactory financial deal. The Portimao circuit in Portugal, which hosted grands prix in 2020 and 2021 when F1 shuffled its schedule as a result of the pandemic, is one of the tracks under consideration. Istanbul Park in Turkey, another track that returned in the pandemic, is also likely to be in contention.' |

Ferrari’s 2023 F1 engine is ‘the bomb’, says Steiner Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has hinted that engine partner Ferrari has made major progress with its 2023 Formula 1 power unit, which he has cheekily praised as ‘the bomb.’ Hope this statement ages well! |

If you doubt this golden age of F1 is going to continue look at the demand for Albert Park next year
-Grandstand seats basically sold out on access presales before the public on sale date -Raceday general admission tickets sold out in a few hours after they went on sale.Expected that Saturday general admission tickets will also sell out shortly. This far surpasses even the crazy demand for this years race. |

What's going on? Is "Drive to Survive" really that powerful? If so, why doesn't Indycar participate in their own streaming reality television show? |

It appears that DtS is very strong - think I saw somewhere that Indycar has something similar in production & it appears that a number of sporting bodies are trying to do something similar with their behind the scenes stories. |

What stand out to me with the 2023 schedule is that the travesty that is the Saudi GP is still on there. That one need to go, for so many reasons...

''INDYCAR is also continuing its path toward the introduction of a hybrid engine platform for the 2024 race season. This program is being developed through the collaboration of Ilmor, Chevrolet and Honda Performance Development. Testing of the hybrid motor has commenced and will continue through the 2023 season. With the introduction of the hybrid motor, the 2.4-liter engine will be paused to allow the innovative hybrid technology to be paired with the proven 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engines.'' https://www.indycar.com/news/2022/12...H5HV1hLRObCCah This isn't due to lack of sponsorship and has to do with a number of factors, such as not having a third engine manufacturer, limiting 2024 engine leases, cost increases post Covid, whih has reduced budgets as David Salters of HPD explains in this article from Racer.com https://racer.com/2022/12/06/pruett-...wrong-reasons/ IndyCar are close to signoing a DtS type TV deal. https://racer.com/2022/10/13/indycar...entary-series/ Is F1 booming in the States? The Miami GP wasn't exactly a success. It brought in a lot of money to Miami itself, $350 million but the event was a financial loss for promoter Tom Garfinkel. The race itself was dull and the layout and track surface came in for criticism from the drivers. We have yet to see how well the race in Vegas does, it could be another Miami. |

It is being reported in a number of sources that DRS zones will be shorter in 2023, but there will be more of them at tracks that can accommodate.
