Haberfeld is in danger of losing his ride if he doesn't do well, precisely because he isn't a paying driver. He's been signed on talent, and there are other guys out there who are gagging for drives, newcomers and veterans alike. Its said that if he really stinks up the joint he could be gone by June.

Actually Haberfeld brought Liofol, Policom and an eyeglass line called Xtreme Radical (personal sponsor). But Mi-Jack is the primary sponsor, they've been with Bachelart for years and Haberfeld was chosen as much on merit as you can these days.

Ford is flying NASCAR Winston Cup driver Kurt Busch from Daytona to Sebring today for his first test drive in an open-wheel car. ...
Pook said Houston will return to the schedule in 2004 and discussions are proceeding with Estoril, Portugal, and Spa, Belgium. ... ... Adrian Fernandez still is experiencing some shoulder discomfort from injuries in a crash last fall in Australia that caused him to miss the season's final two races. That doesn't surprise him. What does have him confused is that when he strapped into his seat for the first time, he discovered that "from last year to this year, I am half an inch shorter." |

Said Michael Andretti, who ran only limited laps in his Honda: "Honda and Toyota know how much they'll compete against each other. I'm not sure General Motors knows how much (competition) they're in for."
the fastest car powered by a Chevrolet engine was 12th (with Vitor Meira) against newcomers Toyota and Honda. |

I saw the times on Yahoo. Looks like Chevrolet are already wasting their time. And, funnily enough, the top cars were ALL ex-CART teams...

Laughable if Chevy sign up for 2005, Cart will have the 2 American makers on board and the IRL will have the Japs for their good ole boys. Wonder how Chevy have handled the red carpet treatment Honda and Toyota have received over there, could be ready for a change.

To answer the query on the gorgeous Alex Yoong -- he is in Sebring doing the Memo Gidley Pitwalk only with a briefcase. I daresay he'll have something arranged by Monday.

Thanx for the insight, Liz. Funny post, by the way. I've always contended that he'll be contending. And I'm still putting a dollar on Forsythe. Doesn't he own a flock'o'Reyards?

Considering the money he brings with him and the public statements he's made, I'm surprised that a ride hasn't been announced yet.
The gorgeous part I really can't comment much on... |

I'm thinking we'll all have to change our bookmarks soon from "cart.com" to "champcarworldseries.com", as I've noticed that any new cookies added to my computer came from the latter, even though I've never actually linked to that address.
(Just another of my boring observations). |

Haven't heard anything about that Forsythe team lately. In fact, not since all the rumours about Bryan Herta disappeared. I think they should run a 2 car team for Yoong and Gunnar Jeanette.

Gunnar jeanette can barely drive an ALMS car, why should we let him in CART?

Woods after a winning Formula
Friday, 7 February 2003 MOTORSPORT CHANNEL 10 is already the go between for Australia's love affair with the V8s, now the network is on the verge of re-igniting our passion for Formula 1. Along with Formula 1, Ten also hopes to add Champ cars, the motocycle grand prix, and the world rally championships to its menu, among other things. |

Spencer files lawsuit against Ganassi
By DAVID POOLE
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Attorneys for Jimmy Spencer have filed a lawsuit in Mecklenburg County Superior Court seeking damages from Chip Ganassi, Spencer's former Winston Cup car owner, for breach of contract and interference with Spencer's racing career. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, seeks $600,000 for the difference between the salary Spencer says he was to be paid for 2003, the second year of his contract with Chip Ganassi Racing, and what he is to make this year as the driver for Ultra Motorsports. No, Gunnar looks like Beaker from the Muppet Show. But he's an American who can drive all right -- he won his class in GT at Le Mans at the age of 19 and I bet YOU didn't do that.
