DTM aero and GT500 aero is very similiar, somewhere I've read that DTM cars generate more downforce. The real deal of GT500 cars is the engine! not less than 550hp and a huge torque release. Even if unrestricted the bmw 4.0 V8, surely can reach that power, but torque peak will remain no more than 500Nm... that's why a reasonable weight break will be usefull. Bmw needs to update their suspensions for the very likely michelin tyres.

Thanks for clearing that up, been catching up with 2014 season and looking forward to next year especially if BMW join GT500!

Should BMW bringing their DTM car in the GT500 class (along with their V8 engine) for next year's season and make it competitive for one season only, I hope the Bavarian marque can develop their turbocharged inline-4 engine in time for 2016.

I hoped that so. But my opinion is BMW should bring their DTM car in the GT500 class and I hoped the chassis will construct by Dome (since Dome withdraw from SUPER GT ) because some of the part from German and Japan are different one especially engine. Fortunately BMW also build an inline-4 engine for 1st generation of BMW M3 (E30) for racing despite not a turbo since 1984 at DTM. But I hoped that BMW will be build turbocharged inline-4 engine soon. Note: Dome will responsible in charged of building the Honda NSX for other factory supported teams since 1996 and also competing as a team as well. If Dome will withdraw from SUPER GT. The other Honda factory supported teams will be doomed also. |

I don't like the idea of having BMW around with their direct DTM car performance balanced to fit the GT500... so hopefully, if they're coming, they'd make the full transformation and not just some bopped half-way concept.
BMW has always been one of my least favourite sights on grid, always whining and getting special treatments (WTCC, GT, dunno for DTM as I don't care for that). Think the LMP was the last time I cared for them a bit |

In Chiana opinion:
If BMW disagree them for using BMW M4 DTM for participating GT500. Then BMW will built BMW M2 GT500 instead with the body construction of Dome (since Dome withdraw from SUPER GT ) |

Why would BMW ask Dome to make one since the DTM chassis is the same as the GT500 one? Besides, the ITR shove their rulebook to GTA in the first place, so there's no need to make a brand-new car. Instead, BMW should use their resources to make an inline-4 engine.

Yes the chassis is fine, it's the insides (and tires) that need upgrading.

How about Bridgestone since most of the GT500 teams use those tires.

The poorly camourflaged factory Z4 GT3 runs on Yokohamas, so that could be another alternative as well.

If they want to be competitive, Yokohama is not the first choice of gt500 tire. I think they have a relationship with Michelin already, so why not approach them? If they want to run the v8, let them. They can go 1000kg with some larger restrictors. Theres other things no one has mentioned. Important factors like the fuel tank. DTM dont refuel, so that would be smaller (less weight). No drs either. No two compound rule. Driver changes are new. No f1-style pit stops with a dozen people. Its a good thing they have team studie because theyd be in need of a serious rethink on what they do in DTM.

Although most of those things are more related to sporting than technical regs, they're fair points.
You know, GTA letting them to run pretty-much-according-to-rules-but-not-really wouldn't be as cringeworthy as with IMSA attempting to have DP vs LMP2 on equal basis when the two concepts have nothing in common and there's clear bias towards one direction, but it could still lead to some annoying BoP arguments over the course of the season and make the established domestic brands unhappy & whining. Long ago in the past they used to have ACO/FIA GT1 (90's & 2000's) cars in the same class as GT500, so there is history of non compliant concepts if you like, but they weren't factory teams were they... |

@MagVanisher As he(TF110) mentioned, DTM chassis is not same as the GT500 one because the fuel tank as he mentioned . In SUPER GT500 they refuel but DTM does not. SUPER GT 500 has DRS and two compound rule but DTM does not have this technical system. So I agree that Team Studie will participating GT500 by using BMW M4 or BMW M2(if they need unique design) with the Dome help to construct the racing chassis because they be need of a serious rethink on what they do in DTM. |

But for this year, there is the rumor having 4 team using BMW Z4 GT3 and 3 team using Honda CR-Z GT So I believe that this rumor should be fake one. My opinion is 2 RC-F GT3 only (INGING and apr) Note: Since apr (second car) has lack of sponsor, In my opinion, OTG Motorsport might be sponsor apr(#30) as well as the main sponsor Last edited by AkioAsakura95; 25 Nov 2014 at 08:28. |

Speaking of the NSX, I'm hoping that the car won't have overheating issues... |
