Yeah, you don't typically use a handle to move the model around. Plop it onto a trolley and slide it under the sting. Drop the sting down, bolt it to the spine. Bob's your uncle!
Half wondered about a flow conditioner...also wondered about a localized height increaser (to max 935 for legality), though that seems unlikely as well. But that you don't see it in the CFD shots is a head scratcher. |

my first thought was that it was something to do with a future air intake you be mounted on top of the Roof. They did say the aero is not finalized so who knows what they were trying. Could it be related to the non swan neck rear wing?

Click the cover of AUTOSPORT, you can check out the Dome S103 windtunnel model!

Did they flip the image. If you look at the press image from the side the "Handle" appears to be on the left side. But on the picture taken from the rear it is on the right side.
I don't think it is a handle, unless they can take it off. Otherwise it would influence the aero testing. |

BTW I'm happy they didn't go for the holes on top of the wheel enclosure. Hope they are able to find a team thats top notch. I don't think Dome will run their own team, but like last year will have it run by a another team. But who? And with what engine? That JUDD pos ruined the car. Nissan Hybrid maybe?

I really dig the spacecraft-like shape of the engine cover. Shame that the BHF sticks out so much.

Autosport magazine reports S103 tech analysis
*In the CFD test, the swan neck marked the better figures than the conventional neck. *The driver position of S103 is located in the backward than that of S102x. *In 2014 regulations, constructor can choose either the upper part or the inner side for the position of fender hole. *Dome already cleared the minimum weight(850 kg). *Autosport does not make reference at all(!) about the "handgrip" on the roof. |

So with Rebellion going with Oreca who would choose the Dome?

That really is the big question — and it extends beyond Dome. There are several companies that would like to build 2014 spec-LMP1s. Whether there’s enough money in WEC racing at the moment to fund and operate such cars remains to be seen. I severely doubt there’s enough money so that all the proposals being floated actually end up racing.

Yes.
Rebellion was the only ideal customer for Dome LMP1. (They have Toyota engine and plenty of money!) I suspect that Dome released the wind tunnel model photos because the negotiation with Rebellion broke down. If so, it means that Dome does not have LMP1 customer now. The wind tunnel model is an advertising balloon to the customer. |

Japanese Samurai:
Do you think any of the japanese (Super GT?) teams could be interested? I would love to see a fully japanese assault on the WEC and Le Mans. |

There were rumors of sard I think wanting to run a TS030, perhaps they still have interest and could go this route with Toyota power? Not sure.

TOMS also wants to run at Le Mans. Problem for all the Japanese teams is cash. The Dome if you ask me is the best package from a chassis and aero perspective, but you need a good engine...

In my mind they have some opportunities. Strakka could be one. They could run it as privateer.
The other could be Nissan I wonder if the car could be outfitted with the all electric Nissan package so that it could be raced from garage 56. Or Mazda coming back as a factory maybe one car at first. Just spitballing. But it seems a bit sad that they make great cars but always struggle to find a great partner in terms of engine and team. |
