Production engines in P1
If supply is available, how many production engines do you think we'll see in P1 next year?
Once again Aston Martin and Corvette battle hard throughout the 24hrs', would any P1 privateer pass on the opportunity to run one of these engines. Add into the mix the Maserati V12 and that's three factory developed engines a privateer wouldn't ordinarily have access to, power, reliability and factory development. Seeing as these engines are all used in cars available to privateers, would there be any issues getting access to them, Aston Martin/Prodrive for example would surely be happy to sell engines and expand their customer program, even if they had their own P1. Who handles the MC12, Micheloto? |

Bartels / Vitaphone tought about using the MC12 engine for a LMP1 for this year, but they didnt because the time was to short. Maybe next year?

MC-12 was a all Ferrari effort. The Ferrari 360, 430 and the 575? were Micheloto's effort. (Funny the kickass 550 had to came from Prodrive)
(The MC-12 was a test programe and to see how far the rules could be pushed by Ferrari /Jean Todt. Pity they hadn't had the guts to do it under the Ferrari banner) |

JAG posted this to the other thread:
From DSC: "In a move which put smiles on faces of those wearing GM yellow the ACO also announced that current GT1 engines up to 7 litres in capacity will be permitted for use in LMP1 in the future. “There was nothing I heard here today which was a major surprise,” said a smiling Doug Fehan later." |

who knows about the future. and Jag dont you mean Production "based" engine, not Production engine. Two differnt things. Production engines come out of street or road going cars. Production Based are engines Like the ones out of road goirng or street cars. Just blue printed, balanced, refined, high refined racing engines. Lot more money too |

What about the Mercedes V12 from the Zonda GT1?
Though the fact it has to be developed goes against the advantage of buying a factory developed GT1 engine. |
