Group C Chassis
How many XJR-9/12, XJR-10/11/16/17 chassis are there around at the moment. A number of cars seem to have been bought and sold in recent years, confusing the situation.
Have any of the chassis auctioned by TWR be sold to prospective Group C/GTP racers? Also how many Group C/GTP Nissan and Toyota chassis are in provate hands. I did see a DVD (BEST Motoring Interenational - Fugi) that had a feature on the Nissan Group C cars which showed a Nissan Museum with countless ex-works Group C cars lined up. Finally how many Sauber Mercedes are in private hands. A C11 was bought by someone in the US from the factory. Is it possible to buy cars from the Mercedes factory. According to a book I have they seem to have every car built from around 1989 apart from two 1992 spec 3.5l cars that never raced, and are still owned by Sauber. |

Gentilozzi's guys up in Michigan have the C11.
Many of the Group C Nissans are still in factory hands. Mike Gue has Agg's R90CK (From-A) and a Factory R90CK (1990 Le Mans pole car). The Factory R90C was acquired from the museum and he indicated attempts to acquire another were rebuffed. I'd like to know where the Dyson-Porsche 962DR2 has gone. The car has disappeared from the scene. I saw it at the 1997 Daytona Historics but never again and the guys in HSR aren't sure where it has gone either (nor Dave Klymm whose Fabcar has worked on it recently '02). |

With the TWR Jaguars the first Le Mans and World Championship winning cars went to the Jaguar museum while TWR retained the 1988 WC and 1990 LM winners. These cars were auctioned off recently. 1985 XJR-6 185 1987 XJR-8 297 1988 IMSA XJR-9 388 1988 Group C XJR-9 288. Re-numbered to 1090 1990 XJR-12LM 190 1991 XJR-14 791 1991 XJR-12 891 From TWR Jaguar Prototype Racers by Leslie Thurston There are six C9 chassis, 5 C11 chassis and 5 C291 chassis. Two 1992 C293 chassis are retained by Sauber. |

AAR built up a third Eagle MkIII from spares as chassis' 1 & 2 are with the museum presumably so too the Eagle MkIIs. As for the IMSA Mazdas, again, I beleive they are in Japan. Considering only a handful of 4-rotor engines were ever built (6-8, Downing has a large % of those for his former WSC DLY Kudzu, rest are in cars in museums), I very much doubt that we will ever see a IMSA or Group C 4-rotor Mazda in private hands.

Some where, not all.
I think one of the original 1985/6 XJR-6 chassis actually raced as an upgraded XJR-12 in 1990 or 1991 at Le Mans! Last edited by JAG; 23 May 2004 at 23:02. |

There are at least the following Jags known or racing in private hands in Europe:
1 x XJR-5 2 x XJR-6 3 x XJR-10 2 x XJR-11 3 x XJR-12 1 x XJR-16 1 x XJR-17 I believe Gentilozzi's Sauber-Mercedes C11 is chassis 05 and was owned by Neil Hadfield before Mike Lauer ran it with HSR. Charlie Agg's car Nissan R90CK is chassis 07. He claims it was also 06, the 1990 LM pole car. The other car with Mike Gue is 01. Intersting to learn about the C292. I never knew it existed. Great site by the way Mike. |

Isn't the 1990 winning Jaguar in the Le Mans museum or it was 2 years ago. Also in the museum was the 1991 winning Mazda 787B and Peugoet 905 from either 1992 or 93, which again I think was a race winner.

It's all a little confusing!!!
1990 LM Yearbook and Time & Two Seats have the pole car as chassis 03. I would also be surprised if the factory let this piece of history go. As I understand it, the 5 chassis were 01-05. No 06 or 07 present! |

Didn't know about the one at Beaulieu. Which one was it? I guess it could have been on loan, as I believe some of the other exhibits there are. Anyone know if it's still there?
