British Hillclimbing Championship
I am planning to take in the British Hillclimbing Championship at Harewood next Sunday, as there is nothing else on and it is on doorstep.
Now I nothing what so ever about hillclimbing (apart from the person to the top of the hill in the fastest time win's) and I was wondering if anybody knows who the runners and riders are, who the top guys are etc. |

Although Graeme Wight Jnr and Adam Fleetwood are the main combatants this season there have been some new surprises in the twice daily shoot outs. And some new names winning as well.
Jnr is out of contention at moment as the engine in his Gould has expired and his efforts are going into new car and engine. A V10 as well would you believe. Go and have a look at www.top12runoff.co.uk for details on this seasons antics. And above all, have a good one. |

Sad that Wight jr is not running at the moment, but Adam will still be awesome. There's plenty else going on behind him though with pretty close competition for the lower placings. There's also some fantastic stuff in the smaller classes, the new Force being particlarly fast. You'll have a great day as these cars are incredibly quick - faster accelerating than an F1 car, and on a country lane! Make sure you position yourself where you can see/hear times so you can follow what's going on, and keep a close eye on the class records printed int he programme, because with good weather there's lots of them tumbling this year.

Meanwhile Wooley will be leading his gallant mob in the mopping up of oil left by the old crocks (and their cars) at Shelsley.
Well done lads and lasses. someone has to do it. |

Well that was different and quite an enjoyable day. Dispite the weather and all the on track dealys, due to weather, offs and problems with the timing equiment.
The cars a very impressive and the acceleration of the top cars is quite amazing and have to be seen. There was also some fantastic cars running in the support classes too. Sadly I had to leave after the first top 12 run off - which Adam Fleetwood won, so I am not sure what happen in round 18. I have uploaded some photos from today and they can found here Last edited by rdjones; 4 Jul 2004 at 18:15. |

Yes, it was very, very wet. Not pleasant being there all day wet through. Never mind, the camera and lenses are weatherproof.

Amazing difference with the Walsh, where the weather was fine all week-end. No oil spills at all.
There was a do put on for the marshals on Saturday night courtesy of the Chevron Bar and particularly Graham Hickman who was seriously injured 10 years ago to the equivalent meeting. Brought back a few memories that one, expecially seeing his helmet again. Good to see you, Graham, and a huge thanks from us to you for a fabulous evening. |

would love to have met Graham again though if only to prove the value of our training. Last edited by Stuart Hill; 7 Jul 2004 at 21:01. |
