Scott Pruett crash...

... http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...ured-in-crash/

Also, a quote from MarathonMan from another board:

"Pruett's team is flying back to Indy to work on the Rolex 24 car (backup old Riley with approved GA bodywork).
Hauler leaving track shortly to head west to Indy.
When hauler arrives, pack up with backup, return east on I-80 to Jersey.
Arrive Sunday morning (8 a.m. warmup uncertain), but they will be ready to go for the race.
Scott is here at the track."

Thats going to be one heck of a turn around and they are mainly doing it for points. Also any word yet on the new driver being brought in to replace Pruett? As its more than likely the docs won't clear him to race.

That reads like one heck of a shunt. I'd imagine Pruett is counting his blessings at the moment. If the concussion the article mentions is indeed true, and this seems entirely likely given the situation, then I concurr with gsmith2424 that it is hard to believe he will be cleared to race; concussion, neck, and back pain...not a nice combination...

As long as there's a Lexus engine in that Riley, you can forget about Papis. There is, however, one Mr. Franchitti who is not on the entry list for Fontana this weekend. It'd be nice if Pruett could race but given the reports about him being unconscious for a time after the crash, I doubt doctors would clear him.

yeah....a car split in two with half going down the pit lane?! sounds VERY lucky. glad to hear that he is fine, considering, but also agree, that it may be a bit before he is racing again.

A detailed account of the accident is here http://motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=305429 They said Scott hit at 148 mph perpendicular to the barrier. A mechanic under a car in pit lane came within a couple of feet of getting hit. Its going to be interesting to see if Scott will be cleared to race, I would doubt it.

Sounds like a pretty solid impact to break the car in half-my thoughts are also with the mechanic, that was a close one..I don't want to think of what could've happened to him had Pruett's car not have stopped. Glad to hear Scott is ok (relatively speaking-it could've been a lot worse). I wonder if the crash was captured by someone.

Looks even worse, doesn't it? At least the engine was still attached to the car on the Saleen, I believe.

Say what you want about the DPs, they are safe.

Glad to hear Scott is OK. Is there another source for the crash picture? Unfortunately photobucket is blocked here in the office.

Not that I know of. This pic has been posted in a few forums, but I think it's always been linked from photbucket.
