Im sorry but a 6 hr evening race will not convince those of us who were looking forward to a 24hr race. I just cant justify the expense of travelling down to Silverstone for a 6 hr and a clubbie on sunday!

I look forward to the 24hrs in 2010.(IF it still exists!)

I know it all seems like doom and gloom but I believe it will still be a great event.. Qualifying will still have to appear on the friday night and JT normally tries to put on a good show with the support races. it's still a year away give it chance... Always a chance of limited noise reduction as well...

Way too early to say for certain yet and I doubt if a deal with BRSCC management to run the event has been finalised yet.

As Pebbs has posted, the publicity boards that Britcar had at Brands yesterday said 24 Hours or 6 Hours but, as I reported on Friday, the sheet that Claire was giving out at competitors' signing on only said 6 Hours (360 minutes actually).

I expect JT is keeping his options open and listening to what his 'customers' are saying - that's what I'd be doing if I was in his shoes.

If it's 24hr and if it doesn't clash, I'd be there simply for the experience of doing the 24hr - something different.

A 6 hour clubbie (other than the Birkett), especially one which runs 'mostly in the dark' has no interest for me whatsoever. I really don't see the point of night racing, unless it's because you have to go through it to get to light again. Best part of 6 hours of 'ooh, there's some white/yellow lights, ooh, they've gone red' is... dull, frankly. Can't flag it, can't see it, don't know what's going on, even more dangerous to marshal it than normal. No thanks. Probably interesting for the competitor, but not me.

The LMS a few years ago and also the FIA GT that ran into darkness seem just an excuse for a longer day with a confusing finish and a very late return home, or to the caravan, by which time no-one wanted to socialise.

I just cant find the enthusiasm for travelling all the way to Silverstone to marshal a 6hr race into the night and then do a full days club event on the Sunday. Sorry. I'll see you in 2010 at the 24hrs.

I have done the last 2 2CV 24hrs and I must say that the 2CV club is about the most marshal friendly club there is. They are always gratefull of the orange army. The atmosphere is allways great even during horizontal rain. If there is ever a meeting that should be on the todo list its the 24hr 2CV at Snetterton. This years highlight was 5 2CV's side by side full opposite lock drifting round Riches only inches apart and no contact.

I think it is a real shame that, after all the efforts to get people along to marshal at the 24hrs, it looks like it is going to go back to the first year-type conditions - not enough breaks (still needed for a 6hr race) for flags/obs, although we might get more incident than we did back then.

I wonder if JT has even thought along these lines, and how this is undoing all the previous good work ?

Mind you, it would reduce the queues for food and sign-on - but that's just me being flippant !

You didn't dream it - he announced it in the cafe when he came along to thank us all.

Great thought but treat it as a pipedream.

If it is only a 6 hour i'm afraid i won't be travelling down to take part, it'll be 2010 for the 24hr. 24hr is the reason i do it.
