Le mans 2009 TV
Does anyone know if Motors TV is showing the 24 hours this year ? if it will be live for 24 hours again ? or is it going to a farce like the LMS series for those of us that cant make it ?

Eurosport (1 & 2) live & full - if the commentry & ad breaks get a bit tiresome, just mute the TV & switch to Radio Le Mans.

A year ago:
On the media side Commercial Director Fabrice Bourrigard explained the new TV deals A.C.O. had signed for 2008 with clear expansions in Europe and Japan as well as the fact that the circuit will be fully “fibered” for HDTV is 2009. That and car cameras on all 55 participants should make the race of races even more attractive for those at home while the Kangaroo TVs will enhance the experience for those at the circuit. http://www.planetlemans.com/2008/06/...ss-conference/ |

I've not read the full instructions from LMS organisers but at the next LMS round at Spa all cars entered are to be prepared fit a couple of black boxes. One will control the three cameras that can be fitted to the car - pan tilt and zoom, and the other will relay the pictures for production. Only guess is how many sets they will have available!

Cool. Even if all cars had onboard cameras, would it be possible to receive feed from all of them at the same time? I remember reading that in F1, at least couple of years ago and if I remember correctly, feeds from six cars could be received at the same time. Obviously explains why often there is no onboard available during replays in live broadcasts. And with 50+ cars...

Have checked the information and it appears all cars will be fitted with the two black boxes and I suppose at least one camera. The race circuit will have a fibre optic cable equipped with a number of receivers to collect the pictures and audio sent from each car. The chaps in the OB van then have the enviable task of trying to decide what gets to air - suggest a couple of knowledgable ten-tenthers do the control - one per class - any offers.
