Lexus LFA in GT1?
Just got this from the GT1 page on facebook.
If so... ... hot damn. Comment at will. Edit - (I would take this rumour with a pinch of salt. The website believes they are going to Le Mans, and if you remember they can't if they build a GT1.) Last edited by I Rosputnik; 10 Aug 2010 at 22:37. |

Just reading the last paragraph tells me to not put a lot of stock in that particular rumor:

Good spotting there. Hopefully they just got that last bit wrong and not the bit about the car actually racing in GT1. Would like to see it happen but I guess it depends on whether there will be a championship next year and also who will race the car.

It shouldn't be, the LFA in a World Championship is great news for the FIA GT1 Series and a blow the so-call experts in the media that want to squat down and do-do on Ratel's idea. Look we're all Sports Car fans which is why we post here. We have endurance series and sprints series and a series with both, who cares. I'll watch it all. Toyota and Nissan doing battle is always a good thing, where's Honda? |

The whole rumour originated from ONE website, it says 'According to our sources' - sources can be wrong or things can change since the 'source' heard things.
Id not get excited just yet, even though Id love to see it |

I think World GT1 is a natural fit and competes with Toyota's direct competition from not only Japan but Germany and Italy. Marketing can be just as effective with or without Le Mans as long as your a winner. |

Sportscar racing should never truly revolve around Le Mans. It may be one of the greatest sportscar races, but there should always be an alternative.
Like the IRC and the WRC. Because then we get more racing, and more things to look forward to! |

Reading the Martin Bartek article on Speed TV.com there could be ways to alter the car to be eligible for GT2 - pending on the car I suppose.
It would be great for the GT1 W.C if this did happen and if the car could be used wider in Europe, USA and Japan, it would be great Time will tell I guess |

All the top 3 SuperGT cars as GT2 cars at Le Mans, along with some Ford GT's and Lambo's. /wetdream
I can definatley see Toyota racing SGT with the LFA, but no rally? Toyota is a huge part of rally. Also, what spec was the LFA they they raced in the N24? Could see that in Europe to compete in GT3 if I recall correctly. I'd be for a GT1 car, but Toyota really wants to return to Le Mans I think and that wouldn't be worth it. Alot of the alticle seemed iffy, we'll just have to wait and see. |

Ayse, you know logic is no excuse for such a lowly thing as mentioning Le Mans!

I find the possibility of it going to LeMans far more exciting than the GT1 rumor.

It would be nice to see Toyota/Lexus back in GT racing. Period (SGT doesn't count to me). That LFA would be stunning in race trim.
