a good win for mikko, best driver of the rally has to go to latvala, a good championship for loeb and a good way to bow out for marcus.

and not a bad performance for matt wilson as well

im currently sifting through my pictures now

Well I watched the highlights of the Wales Rally and was somewhat bemused with all the highlights from earlier in the season! I think we were short-changed!

Once again ITV has shafted rally fans by its appalling coverage.

Only a so called highlights programme and only on satellite.

If they're not going to show decent coverage then let someone else do it.

Well said Dude! I was so bored at one stage I even switched channels to see if there was anything more interesting on!!!

Oh and I was watching on Freeview rather than satelitte - I may just have to get one of these new fangled devices!

Speaking to one of the TV crews covering the BRC round on Friday, they gave up because the visibility was so poor. But agree they could have put more on. I think you might be better off going on your tube to get the coverage.

itv coverage is dreadful, not only was a good 1/4 of the show wasted showing highlights from earlier in the season, they didnt seem remotely interested, im sure the viewers would ahve found it quite interesting to know that dispite being outside the top10, latvala won all put one stage on the saturday and sunday, thats fairly impressive, itv mentioned he;d won a few stages and that was it.

as someone said above i wasnt giving the tv all my attentionn as the programme was made so boring! i think out of the hour they probably showed less than 15mins of actual stage time, and the rest was filled up with pointless "virtual specator" and interviews, am i the only viewer who wants to see the drivers giving it death through the stage rather than loeb going "zis is ok, ze car feels good, im not taking risks"

congrats to mikko on the win & sebby on the championship win - another great season by gronholm, pity the badluck kicked in... still a brilliant career, best of luck in retirement

be good if atko & subaru improved in 08...

Perhaps all the doom and gloom predictions from the likes of me about Loeb cleaning up next season in Marcus' absence may be a bit premature. Maybe a few drivers may be able to hold a candle to Seb's pace.

Mikko was really outstanding last weekend. A very brave boy, some of the onboard shots from his car (and from Latvala's for that matter) were very hairy indeed especially in the reduced visibility.

The cynic in me is beginning to think perhaps Mikko has never really been allowed to go all out, all of the time.

Anyway, I hope his form carries over into next season as I've given up hope of Petter and Subaru ever turning thngs around.

Sadly unless there is a Brit in the top three the UK media aren't interested. It doesn't matter if rallying is the most exciting sport on the planet if there is no British interest they'd rather cover a Welshman beating an Englishman playing darts or crown green bowls.

There is also the problem that Ford don't really seem to be regarded as a British team in the way that BL were in the days of Pond and Wilson etc - so there isn't the brand loyalty either.

Perhaps if Wilson jnr and Wilks were driving together in a 'Stobart Ford Britain' team we may get a bit more media interest?

Wales Rally GB National

We have concentrated on the National section of the WRC Wales and have a report and images at www.retro-speed.co.uk

As a classic motorsport newspaper we were disappointed that the entries were not sifted, at least one ex works Alpine Renault was turned down. How about some Group B cars next year we could persuade at least one Stratos out and an 037.
