camping question--please help!
Hello all. I have a quick question. I'm going to the 24hrs of Le
Mans this June for the first time. My buddy and I attempted to reserve a campsite at the Maison Blanche site and two General Admission tickets, but it seems like our whole order may never have gone through (the ticketing seems really poorly organized). In any event, we may just end up showing up and buying a general admission ticket. So my question is: if we're just doing traditional camping (carrying in a tent and setting it up), and not using any kind of car or camper, will they let us set up a tent in the GA areas? Do we even need a campsite pass? Or, assuming all have sold out by now and we are unable to get one, are we doomed to drinking lots of coffee and praying for good weather? Any advice from veterans would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ryan Chirnomas rchirnom@u.arizona.edu Tucson, Arizona, USA |

Ryan, If you carry your tent into the circuit then there are any number of places you could pitch your tent. Most of the sites are not controlled and are accessible to anyone with a general admission ticket.

Your order for camping passes in Maison blanche was probably filled in the dustbin next to mine.
The camping passes are for each vehicle you bring in, as pedestrians you can just wander into a campsite and pitch up and no-one will know that you are not with a vehicle. |

Although we are no longer "campers" (!), for many years we used to set up tents in the garage rouge and there are normnally tents etc. dotted throughout the garages. The marshalls may have a moan at you at first, but they soon lose interest.
Just make sure you don't leave anything of value when you leave your tent. Nice to make your acquaintance, rchirnom and welcome to the forum. First visit to Le Mans eh? I've only one thing to say, Enjoy!. |
