Yep, I will be there. I think it might be my 5th GP? but I'm not sure, I struggle to remember last week.

There are some others from here that I could name, but I will let them announce themselves.

Next year will be number 26 for me if my maths is correct (missed the first in 1985 but have worked all of them since).

Yeah right

The handful who have done all the F1 GP's keep getting gifts showered upon them at each 5 year anniversary but those of us who are -1 get squat.

Well actually you get a medalion every 5 years of service which his a nice touch.

I only missed Adelaide #1 in 1985 because I had only been a marshal for less than 6 months and thought I wouldn't be experienced enough to work trackside at the GP, how wrong I found out I was when I arrived at the next GP in 1986

I would absolutely love to work an Australian GP, but alas, I'm a bit far away in Canada eh.

AM...its easy...just take the North-West Passage to the coast, then head south and stop before you fall off the bottom of the Earth...we will look after you when you get here so....stop procrastinating (or some other big word)

got another e-mail newsletter from CAMS before they went off on their Xmas holiday

few questions you guys may answer before I bother CAMS

1. newbie marshals need to submit an application for a "trainee marshal" do these get signed on the first day of the AGP? I know this happens after the fact, but does CAMS participate in the V8 Supercars race in Hamilton, NZ or is it handled by Motorsports NZ?

2. the passport photo submitted for track pass, better to post an actual physical passport photo or would e-mailing a photo do as well? I can do either option, just not sure what's more convenient for CAMS.

3. signed up for the carpooling thing from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne... anyone else live out that way?

cheers and happy holidays!

1. Motorsport NZ would cover the NZ round I would expect as it's thier turf not CAMS'

2. It's easier to e-mail them a jpg passport photo I reckon, make sure the file name is your name so they don't mix them up.

3. I'm out west but my sister works in marshal services so it's early starts and late finishes for me so car pooling passengers isn't practical for us.

On the subject of car pooling I just hope they don't give out peoples contact details for others to contact as the privacy laws kind of limit that unless people allow thier info shared.

Hint to everyone, sign in and collect your stuff as early as possible remembering credentials usually opens at least two weeks early, you've got a better chance of getting a uniform that fits AND is actually fit to be used if you get in early.

understood... I've signed up and decided to share my contact info... no harm in that as far as I can tell

I can just as easily commute via the train, have done that many times when I lived in Victoria for a few months... but I figured I'd be more social catching a ride with "like-minded" individuals, heh

I'm flying in from Auckland on Monday, March 12th and will likely head to collect my stuff straight from the airport

cheers!

Several female marshals didn't like thier silent phone numbers and addresses handed out several years ago without being asked.
