Audi can be pretty relaxed as one as the #1 is running. They're the only car completely out of reach for Toyota so far.

Different issue, as that was an inherently stupid and dangerous race that should never have been held.

But generally ceasing living because someone has died is grief mongering of the very worst.

It was just a normal sprint race round. This is the Le Mans 24 Hours, you don't stop it...and no driver would want to be remembered as the guy who stopped it.

His family asked for Aston's race to go on, they will know his wished best. End of story.

In the world of motorsports, safety is often improved upon as a result of such a terrible wreck.

Its not as much could have would have as much as how to prevent it from happening again in the future.

And surely you must know that blame and anger are masks for true emotions in such an event.

That being said, you are correct as to what is most important at this time...

RIP Allan Simonsen. You will be missed.

Makowiecki is on a misson, setting fastest lap in GTE Pro every lap at the moment.

Is the #1 Audi setup differently to the #2 and #3? Regardless of the driver it seems to be setting consistently faster laptimes than the other two

Yeah...and I think Dan would have. If I was a driver...I would have wanted them to continue...celebrate life not death. They all know or should know the risks of their chosen profession.

If I was diagnosed with cancer, I would want everyone to stop their life to cry about it.

cynical but there are too much commercial interests (the audi-toyota ones, eurosport etc...) to stop the race whatever tragedy may happen.

no sense in arguing about it but that Vegas race was a circus from the drop of the green flag.

It was a different scenario at Las Vegas...they HAD to red flag to clear the huge amount of debris from the circuit...this accident wasn't like that...

Let the race continue, his family has requested the team go on, and go on they should...

Please can we avoid too many arguments about what should or shouldn't happen here or in previous events. Time for that later, let's keep in mind this tragedy only happened a couple of hours ago.

I want to end this discussion too. But to one question that still bothers me is:
If an LMP1 leader would crash and get fatally injured, do you guys think the race would be stopped? I'm just trying to understand how people think. I mean, I think every driver should get the same respect regardless what class they are racing in.
