That was seriously the most boring race I've ever been to. Left two hours into it, couldn't bear it (and the rain) any more

Nice photos-what was this event? First I have heard of it but must be first race meeting of 2014 in the world? A long distance race in the rain standing on the dunes of Zandvoot in january does sound like something for the hardy.I don't recalll any racing in Europe in january since the days of clubbies at Brands Hatch -60s?

It's part of the Winter Endurance Kampioenschap. Just club racing, but a handful of talented and semi-talented Dutch racers in the field as well. Has been around for at least a few years.

Someone told me that the championship started in 2001/02; although I believe the New Year race predates this. I have enjoyed my trips to Zandvoort for the championship as it makes for a nice relaxed event (with some notable drivers) that punctuates the winter quite nicely.

And if it's only rain your in luck it could also be snow and ice as was in 2010.
I still remember that they were clearing away the ice in the pitlane with burners.
