Doesn't GM know that NASCAR is killing the sport? Wouldn't it make more sense to just send the remaining factory Corvette to WEC so it can compete against the best and greatest bare concrete walls in racing?

But they are now producing a new chassis, right? I don't want to hear Labre quitting because the factory team needs the chassis and can't/ won't produce a new chassis.

No that is not what I mean.....Doug Fehan on the subject
“That’s the beauty of the Corvette over a monocoque construction because it’s essentially a tube-frame car,” he said. “We have a set of fixtures we’ll put it on and see what’s damaged. “We’ll be able to cut out what’s damaged and weld in some new stuff. It will be brand-new when we get it done.” http://sportscar365.com/imsa/tusc/co...-watkins-glen/ L.P. |

The future of Corvette
Does Larbre own or lease their car?
Either way I don't think it's a stretch to think that Corvette Racing would put a clause in the contract to allow them access to Larbre's chassis in an event such as this. |

I'm sure that Larbre would loan the factory their car now, with some clause about getting access to the other cars for next year. After all, LM is over, and the rest of the season is just fluff
Oh, and to the poster above that thinks us brits get upset when Vette beat Aston? Lol. EVERYONE loves the best sounding car on the grid. It's only the 458's that sound pants in comparison to the other V8's |

As a Brit, I'd rather see the Corvette win. Astons way of racing doesn't sit right with me. But I love the Vettes and thought it was a lovely story to end the Corvette 2015 Le Mans story given the events earlier this week.

So C7.R has won in 2015
Daytona Sebring Le Mans Did 'fine' at other two events, LB and LS, with no penalties in BoP And now IMSA has handed them for WG, as the only benefitter in all GTE: -10kg (1220kg, lowest P&M Corvettes have ever been in GT2 IIRC) +0,3mm restrictor (30,1mm, by a margin highest P&M Corvettes have ever been in GT2 IIRC - plus 1,2mm higher than circa 2011 with C6.R GT2) http://www.imsa.com/sites/default/fi...20AoP_01_0.pdf The point is that these cars like the Ferraris, and unlike the crap-Astons, are GOOD in itself, so these sorts of things are funny to see. GM must've given two cashbags to boardroom this month instead of one |

Is there a difference between the engines in a Corvette C7R versus the Corvette DP. They sound identical. I wonder if they are the same under the hood.

Nobody but GM knows real figures, but as far I know the 5.5L used in GT cars has a torque peak over 670Nm with a redline close to 6000rpm where the max power is achieved (about 480-500hp, it depends by restrictors) the corvette DP motor has less torque (about 610-620Nm) but an higher redline between 7000 and 7500rpm, max power is in the range of 540-560hp (here too it's about restrictors) |
