By the way I like the new title of the thread and I take it Iain had an input with the spelling of it? |

You were obviously caught by one of those con websites that offer Visas and stuff at a cost that should be free. I nearly made that mistake when applying for a US visa a few years ago..... |

Belated appy New Year to all, and appy non-birthday to Max. It's 32 degrees today in Brizzy and son's pool is 31 degrees. We're off up the coast in a hippy mini-camper on Saturday for 10 days - luckily the bushfires up here in Queensland are relatively minor, having had a fair bit of rain recently.
Oh well, time for a swim and a beer.... |

Well , got a text this morning saying my passport runs out in 6 months . But it is from HMG , & advising it is easier to renew online . So probably not a scam , but surprising that HMG is actually getting that efficient with the new , [ must have 6 months left ] , rules for European border controls . |

Now I've seen the video from your Cortina suspension its easier to understand why you prefer it to a Capri. Specially when it comes to bump steer.

Not so simple living in Aus and on a British passport. Used to be able to go to the British Consul in Melbourne with form and fee and it would come by courier from Canberra in a few days.
Went to renew mine last year about a month before I travelled to discover now passports are now all done in the UK (online is ok with digital photo) but it now takes a minimum 6 weeks. Rang the UK passport office to see if I could get a rapid job done for a fee, but told no.... and to go to the British Consul in Melbourne for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD). Had to do a video interview via iPad with the UK consul in Singapore showing other ID, Drivers license etc which was no problem and got my ETD after lunch same day. They sent me a text saying when ready. Only problem is that it is for one trip only and all flights must be pre-booked with no change of itinerary allowed. The ETD looks like a normal passport but is yellow with the no change restrictions listed. A yellow British passport confused Spanish immigration no end and a bit of a delay ensued till they let me through. Returning to Aus was ok as I linked the new ETD to my Resident Return Visa online before leaving. Have now applied for a 10 year one but still in the application process waiting for it to arrive. |

Belated happy new year to all.
I spent my new year's eve/day flat on my back in hospital with pneumonia. Like the catchy new thread title. |

I would like to add my belated best wishes to the list as yet another casualty of the dreaded hospitals wards; I was admitted on the 22nd, released today and am now considered a "virtual inpatient" which means that tests and scans are prioritised as if I was still bed blocking.
Unfortunately, although the medics know what the symptoms are and how they manifest themselves, they have yet to determine the cause/s; thankfully, the Big C has been pretty well ruled out - for now at least. Still, onwards and upwards. |
