Unlikely. Unless they can magically get the Camaro in the 60K ballpark, I can't see a big sales increase for an 80K car. Not to mention the Camaro is most likely dead come 2021.
Like the Silverado, the Corvette would be 120K plus, so it's not going to fly out the showroom. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

There's already rumblings of a local buyout of the Holden nameplate and logo.

Awfully sad news, I hope a wealthy Australian firm picks up the brand and saves it from oblivion.
Supercars have their work cut out for them, who knows what the future holds and what impact this may have on tv contract negotiation, currently underway. The product needs to remain market relevant if you want sponsors to pay your bills. |

Engine plant and assembly plant. Complete with foundry, presses, paintbooths, assembly lines, etc, everything you need to manufacture a combustion engine (should you choose to include one) and motor vehicle.

No one in their right mind would finance that idea.
Opel have failed 2 generate sales twice in Aus. Once in their own name as a premium Euro product and then as the mainstream Commodore offering. The parrot is dead. Since local manufacturing stopped there is nothing of substance to save. I feel sorry for the dealers and the staff but their pain will be gain for other importers and dealers. Selling cars has always been a tough game. |

Not one interesting car in their stable. Except for the Supra. Made by BMW. PT Barnum said it best: Nobody ever went broke catering to the great unwashed. |

If it WERE that easy, everyone would be doing it. Used to be that a REALLY, REALLY well-run dealership in a capital city could make around 4% bottom line. These days that is more like 2%-2.5% - in a volume dealership that still equates to a lot of dollars due to the sheer volume of business but it's a small return in proportion to the amount spent and it doesn't take much for it to go South. In comparing Holden to Toyota, you also need to bear in mind that other than the Aurion, which was half done here, Toyota was not designing, engineering and developing cars here in Australia - instead building Camrys here, which were designed and engineered elsewhere. With the VE Commodore alone reported as a billion dollar design / engineering exercise, clearly that makes a significant difference. |

And not all importers and dealers get to sell Toyotas, Mazdas and Hyundais.
Those who think selling cars is easy should get themselves a line of credit and set up an Alfa Romeo,Peugeot or Citroen dealership. I dont think Infiniti & Holden will be the only marques to leave Australia in this decade. |

I've noted that GM have previously departed the UK and South Africa - could there be many RHD markets left where they still had a presence?
