While we're looking at old historic racing pics, and some are wearing their detective hats, can anybody identify which Silverstone event this was? I'm guessing late 80s / early 90s, looks like Summer although with Silverstone one can never be sure, Moss did a demo in a 250F, Jack Sears was driven around in 39 PH along with other demos.

The Lancia appears to have Swedish stripes, if that helps narrow it down.

I kept the programmes of the various other meetings I snapped, late 70s through to early 90s, but not this one, grrr...

Love the Aston’s cornering attitude in first pic in #2111 !

Thanks baub for the added variety which is much appreciated. Hope you don’t mind the posts from others on ‘your’ thread. So far they blend in well.

With the variety of cars, it must be the Coys Classic, the railway sleepers on the baking also date it to the 80'ss probably.

Glad you like the choices, Mike, it is nice to have somewhere to display the pictures that have been sitting on DVD for years, and they hopefully stir old memories.

I must admit there are some cheeky blighters intruding on my site but what can you do?

To be fair, when I started the thread, it was to encourage people to share their own pictures, it has taken a pandemic to get them scrambling around in dusty attics. There are some cracking shots from the likes of RB, etc. so no complaints from me.

Those made my day, Percy! Thanks very much. Me and the battle-scarred SLR. Love the shot of the silver car and red car together especially.

The damage to both sides occurred at BH, when I got side swiped on the left by a an optimistic mustang. The driver of that car’s wife was the other side of me in a Healey which I then clouted into.......

Gulf Mirage BRM again, but from JDC Silverstone 4th April 1981. Plus a few others from the same event.

Not the same image quality admittedly, but we are talking glass plate negatives, brass and mahogany Thornton-Pickard and that black cloak wasn't half heavy after a day in the drizzle.
