The demise of Holden is just start of some very big changes in the automotive industry both here and overseas.
World on the street is that acertain Japanese marque is about to severely cut the number of dealerships in Australia. Look at the dollars tied up at Essedon Fields(Essendon Airport) in car dealerships, and with falling car sales, car finance hard to get and a crackdown on the lucrative insurance, wheel and tyre insurance and extended warranties etc-would not like to be adealer principal! |

Holden Brand Gone!!!
Quote:
Which in itself is uninformed which makes things worse. If you were a journalist a bit of research would tell you that Triple 8 have a contract with Holden til end of 2021 and the Commodore itself is a eligible car for the series until end of that year at very least. Even if Holden wrap things up by end of this year they’re not going to pull the contract with Triple 8 because theoretically (and realistically) it’d cost them more to do that rather then leaving the contract to run its course. Apart from WAU who’ve said they won’t race the Commodore next year I don’t expect much change from the Commodore runners in 2021 except if someone does a Kelly and switched to Mustang. Which with the uncertainty surrounding 2022 onwards doesn’t make a lot of sense. At the moment anyway. Heck even Penske staying beyond 2021 has a question mark over it-and rightly so. |

Detroit will want to be free of as many contracts and commitments as possible. Roland will want to sell those quarter panels to another sponsor and focus on wooing another manufacturer. Instead of serving one that doesn't exist. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Cars may be sporting Holden Parts and Service logos next year as part of a settlement deal. I can't see the economic sense in anyone changing next year, after that, who knows? |

Worst case scenario is the total withdrawal from Oz but more likely to sell cars via an independent distributor. Press to be notified March 27. |

looks like no gm replacement
https://www.supercars.com/news/champ...ach-agreement/ The settlement, the details of which are commercially confidential, will see the Red Bull Holden Racing Team remain on the grid in its present guise until the end of the current Virgin Australia Supercars Championship season. |

Who knows? Will 888 even continue? Still as long as we have enough teams, the series will still be there

The GMSV enterprise has still not been successfully negotiated either as GM wish to own it outright and merely contract Walkinshaw to convert Camaros, Silverados and Tahoes. Apparently no decision yet on Corvette & Cadillac no chance.

What do you have against Mustangs!?
At the present point, a Ford one-make series is looking extremely likely. Holden doesn't exist anymore, and nobody else is interested. A Ford one-make series would be a lot of fun actually, it was pretty good before when it was quasi-one-make. Mustangs have rear wheel drive, they have a V8 or an Ecoboost four-cylinder turbo, they are lively and exciting to watch, what's not to like? Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 5 Jun 2020 at 01:53. |

The ZB will continue to be raced in 2021. And while Ford did contribute to the Mustang's development costs, no guarantee it will go around again. Out of interest, does anybody know what the sales numbers are like for the 'stang?
