I have finally cobbled my entry list together, so here are some stats, which I have not checked very thoroughly...
There are (currently) 59 cars on the entry list. This will be the lowest number of starters since 2015, when there were 56. 5 starters in LMP1 is the lowest number in the top class in... a long time. The high mark in the last decade was 2010, I think, with 18. Since 2010, only one year has had more than this year's 24 LMP2s. That was 2017, with 25. 8 cars in the top GT class is the lowest number since 2010, which marked the end of GT1. 22 cars in the second GT class is the most since 2010. In other words, privateers are filling the gaps left by missing works entries. Drivers Platinum 50 28% Gold 42 24% Silver 48 27% Bronze 37 21% LM rookies 43 24% 6 rookie crews this year, which is a lot. Most starts (excl 2020) Emmanuel Collard 23 Crew with most starts (excl 2020) #91 Porsche 33 It's been the Corvette crews for the last few years, but not this time. Previous overall winners 5 Previous class winners (excl overall) 30 Nationalities FRA 33 GBR 31 ITA 18 USA 15 NED 10 CHE 9 DNK 8 BRA, JPN 6 BEL, DEU 4 AUS, AUT, CDN, RUS 3 COL, ESP, IRL, MEX, PRT, SWE 2 ARG, FIN, TWN, MCO, NOR, NZL, POL, THA, TUR 1 In the classes, Toyota should walk LMP1, of course. LMP2 should see a good fight amongst some strong crews. #16 G-Drive Racing by Algarve Tandy/Jarvis/Cullen Oreca/Goodyear #21 Dragonspeed USA Montoya/Rojas/Buret Oreca/Michelin #22 United Autosports Albuquerque/di Resta/Hanson Oreca/Michelin #26 G-Drive Racing Vergne/Rusinov/Jensen Aurus (Oreca)/Michelin #29 Racing Team Nederland van der Garde/de Vries/van Eerd Oreca/Michelin #31 Panis Racing Vaixiviere/Jamin/Canal Oreca/Goodyear #32 United Autosports Brundle/van Uitert/Owen Oreca/Michaelin #36 Signatech Alpine Negrao/Laurent/Ragues Oreca/Michaelin #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing Stevens/Tung/Aubry Oreca/Goodyear #38 Jota Davidson/da Costa/Gonzalez Oreca/Goodyear GTE Pro? Could be anyone. Maybe not Weathertech. GTE Am Both #56 and #57 Project 1 Porsches look good (Cairoli/ten Voorde/Perfetti and Bleekemolen/Fraga/Keating). #77 Dempsey-Proton Porsche. Campbell's speed and Ried's experience plus whatever Pera brings? #83 AF Corse Ferrari. Collard/Nielsen/Perrodo. Both the #90 and #98 Astons. Adam/Eastwood/Yoluc and Farfus/Gunn/Dalla Lana. 39% of the GTE Am field are LM rookies, by my count. Could be some interesting driving standards out there. There are 16 Ferraris in the race. Is that a record? |

Not sure if it fits here but another race, another livery for Porsche. Early release on the virtual LM cars and now in use for the actual race.

Considering the reduced number of professional crews and increased number of amateurs replacing them, I'm a little surprised to see more platinums that any other metal on the grid. Even more surprised that there's only 4 Germans on the grid. Not sure how many there normally are, but only 4 just doesn't seem right. Not saying your numbers are wrong, but considering how many good German drivers there are, only 4 being at Le Mans just 'seems' odd? |

Yep, only 4. Christian Ried Horst Felbermayr Jr Steffen Gorig Sophia Florsch Last year there were 8, but since they were mostly in GTE Pro, driving for Corvette, BMW, Ford and the IMSA Porsche team, they are no shows this year. Rockenfeller Mucke Tomczyk Muller x2 Bergmeister Lotterer Only Ried returns. |

In the history of Le Mans, there were a few drivers who drove at Le Mans under pseudonyms. Some of the famous ones were
"Heldé" (Pierre Louis-Dreyfus) - 7 starts "Pierre Levegh" (Pierre Bouillin) - 7 starts "Franc" {Jacques Dewes} - 7 starts "Jean Beurlys" (Jean Blaton) - 6 starts "John Winter" (Louis Krages) - 9 starts Which leads me to my question. Who is "Steve Brooks" who will drive the #89 Porsche this weekend ? I see he has quite a strong background in historic racing but does anyone know who's the man behind the man: https://www.driverdb.com/drivers/steve-brooks/ http://www.sb2.eu/racing-1 |

On the RLM preview they were suggesting that it wasn't the Steve Brooks that had done historics.

reading through that im finally starting to get excited for this years race. forgetting LMP1, unpredictability could be the word of this race...throw in the weather, the rookies and it could be very interesting indeed. |

DSC to the rescue.. http://www.dailysportscar.com/2020/0...k-notes-3.html "The ‘nom de plume’ ‘Steve Brooks is actually 65-year-old French racer Philippe Haezebrouck who will be making his six Le Mans start, his best result today came on his debut in 2001 when he finished second in GT with Gunnar Jeannette and future double overall winner and WEC World Champion Romain Dumas." |

Thanks for the article. Interesting story, guess some can’t stay away. ‘Steve Brooks’ won’t win, but will probably enjoy himself and hopefully give his sponsors some good value for money
