Just reading the Sportscar365 report, and the race result list: https://sportscar365.com/other-serie...urburgring-24/
The #911 won, with Cairoli, Christensen, Estre listed as victors in the results list. However, Lars Kern was also on the entry list for that car, but he's not on the results as a race winner - anyone know if there's a reason he wouldn't be listed, or whether it's just likely to be an error? |

I suspect there's several teams who didn't need all their drivers due to the shortened race.
I managed to catch the start and end of the race between outings and errands over the weekend, and then followed up by watching coverage of the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb, a similarly old track to the ring but a little shorter in length. |

Guessing that article may have been updated as it now includes:
"Estre, Christensen and Cairoli were teamed up with Lars Kern, however the Porsche production car specialist was unable to take part due to illness." |

he was so "ill" that he was happy in the paddock. Same with Dirk Müller for GetSpeed etc. Lame excuse!

Hah, I guess there's a bit of face-saving going on there - as a driver I guess I'd rather be described as "too ill, sadly couldn't race for us" than "the 4th best of our 4 drivers, so didn't get in the car"

They mentioned on the commentary that to be classified each driver had to complete at least 2 laps (and they mentioned at the time that teams with 4 drivers would either have to compromise their race or drop a driver).

I don't think Cairoli got that much seat time either?
Let's be honest: Who would not ty to maximize Estre's drive time ? He was mighty. |

The race is crazy really, the amount of near misses coming up to slow zones was pretty much beyond my ability to count, or passes on the grass, or whatever, it is a bonkers race, but the ability of all to cope with it is astonishing really, the weather was crazy.

Despite so little running I think it still ended up being a really exciting race for what I saw. Not what we all wanted but what can you do about the weather. Not like June is a particularly wet and cold month historically and as others have said, we've seen similar conditions throughout the year. Always easy for the armchair fan to say "just hold it on x date" but there's so much more than just teams to consider, not least the huge number of marshals required to run the event. |

Cairoli is usually very quick, but he was on the wrong compound of tire during his stint and therefore was slow in comparison to the others.

Rather behind but I have finally finished watching this year's race. Enjoyed it as ever but it didn't feel like a classic.
Can anyone tell me what the rationale is for the minimum pit stop times being different in the last 70 minutes? For the main part of the race I can understand longer stops for longer stints, as otherwise we'd see very little variation in strategy. I don't see why that should change in the last 70 minutes. The only thing I could think is that is the same logic but based on stint to end of race rather than stint just completed... |

I assume it all comes into the calculation of how pitstops work across the whole race. Does seem strange to adjust it in a really confusing way for the last stop.

I hadn't seen this until now. A 2x6hr race in Sep next year (with parc ferme, so a 12-hr in 2 parts):

thank you and wow! M4 gt3 has a crazy boost for the whole rpm range! >2.4bar@6500rpm I find hard to believe the car is getting "only" 520hp... it's basically like M4 is using a 6.5-7L NA for the whole rpm range |
