Fans moaning?! Never!
![]() There is a bit of variety this year. That’ll be refreshing. I quite like the Porsche, FWIW. Last edited by Adam43; 1 May 2023 at 15:53. |

The new livery will be known as the "butterfly."
Looking forward to the retro butterfly-liveried 911 at Le Mans in 2058 already! |

I think those new liveries are absolutely terrible. They should've done the retro liveries indeed.
But if they upset the kind of people that use the word "woke" as a negative term, then they at least have a silver lining. |

I'm hoping they look good 'in the flesh', so to speak. But it does show how 'classic' just works. Like the Ferrari. And the blue Glick looks wonderful, IMO. Even The Green Floyd looks pretty good....

Maybe the ACO and IMSA need to do a throwback weekend like NASCAR does with the spring Darlington race.

Honestly, I think it's not exclusively retro liveries that fans prefer. Sure, they think positively about historically famous liveries because of associated memories, but from a design perspective, we could say that simple color schemes combined with an interesting looking car make for a fine combination, and could create future classics.
I would say that relative simplicity is the defining characteristic of the Jota and JDC liveries, and that can be pleasing to the eye. One of my gripes with SRO GT3 racing is despite the fact I enjoy many of the cars' liveries in their nice press shots, when you see a grid of 40 colorful to the gills GT3 cars all coming at you at once, they somehow become indistinct anyway! And yet, I don't seem to have that problem with GT300 cars in Super GT, even with their wild liveries...wonder what that says about me ![]() |

We've got July 4th at Watkins/lime rock, but an encouraged retro weekend seems like a sure fire hit in imsa. Road America or Atlanta seem like good options. |

Porsche liveries are a committee job - more of a 75 year anniversary thing so one car looks good in the museum as a static display.
Not going for the memorable new livery to win Le Mans or a variation to help distinguish the entries unless you are side on in GS etc. A gold/yellow black and red theme with some colour reversal amongst the 3 would look good. |

Road Atlanta would be interesting and Coke already ran one for Cooper, although think technically dad owns it. |
