#1529 Racing has always been expensive but many can do with engine, transmission and other things. Aero is tricky but when other technologies like hybrid or may be hydrogen are involved, its another field.
But above all, IMO, you must "negociate" your own BoP. This is not racing, this is politics. I hope we'll see them back just to perpetuate the tradition of David vs Goliath which is part of LM legend too. |

Not sure if this has been posted before, but even if it has, it's so good it deserves to be posted twice......

Seems to be the goodbye video for this car sadly.

Andrew, don't you think we could add some words about Jean-Pierre Fleur? Him and James Glickenhaus were ment to meet each other. Pipo started as a single mechanic/prep in the early 70's and its because his engines were way much better than many works ones that his official career started. Two real enthousiasts. Some romance here but many facts too:https://www.eximium.fr/upload/elfind...ch_jan2018.pdf

I think it’s fair to say Jim has won many fans with his efforts. And if it inspires other privateers to have a go, then that’s a bonus

Jim has just raised US$30,000,000 by selling his Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari 412P at Bonhams Quail Lodge auction on Friday.

Just watched the auction and the winning bid was US$27,500,000. Presumably the other US$3,050,000 was Bonhams fees.

I think you're right here (went for 30 255 000 US$ including fee paid by the winner to the auctioneer). If you look at what a GTO can make, not crazy money IMO, bearing in mind that I could barely afford the keyring! All results are announced premium included. https://www.bonhams.com/auction/2801...quail-auction/ Nice Citroën by the way…

Is that enough to make it to the grid next year? **side eye**

There was a 2 year gap though to get there and get a lot of attention and maybe finish on the overall podium at Le Mans. And my goodness they did that. Great opportunity Jim is. Curse IMSA for not letting the car run there.

Good looking car with a podium finish at Le Mans, that's some great history. It also had decent straight line speed what was important there but way too unstable in sector 3 to be competitive against the big boys.

It is a shame, a real shame. But it illustrates what we all know already, privateers just can't compete against manufacturers as they don't have the megabucks to spend on development. But they had a mighty fine run and I shall still wear my Glick t-shirt at LM next year even though they won't be there..... (and I'll even try to resist being a nodding dog in the last few hours.... ).

They can be very proud on the podium finish at Le Mans. Still one of the best looking cars of the current generation.

I wonder if that Pipo motor will have a life somewhere else. Weren't McLaren sniffing around for an engine? Handy not to have another OEM's name in it.

I would love to see a Glikenhaus at Le Mans 2024, I think it would be an excellent farewell for the car.
