possible new chevy problem?
Watching the ESPN coverage here in Britain last night I'm almost sure that the commentators were saying that even if chevy does take the new Cosworth engine they are contractually obliged to supply all the teams with the new engine within two weeks (apparently some obscure rule according to them). This is a tall order and I doubt that they could build enough in time. Also if Panther gets first pickings with the new engine wouldn't the other Chevy/Cosworth teams call foul play especially if it is competative since it would take them weeks-months to produce it and supply it equally to everyone.

I think this is part of the reason behind Cheever perhaps switching to Speedway - MCT became a shell when Dudot left. That would allow GM to supply Hornish and Rice first.
I think most of the Chevy teams would be willing to wait while a B-spec Chevy (Cosworth) was run by a couple of teams. It'll take two months to supply all their teams. |
