Cams
Is it just me or have other people out there had trouble with CAMS. I've had a car awaiting CAMS approval for 12 months and still have not got past go. After 12 months and being promised Category 6 2 months ago they have changed there mind and passed me over again to the next meeting which is late September for mention to the board. This has been happening as I have said for 12 months.
Has anyone out there been through this and have any ideas as to how to fast track them ? or am I just p-----g in the wind with these people ? |

I have no trouble at all with the fine people at CAMS .....
I have no trouble because I have given up! They have annoyed me that much over the years that I made the decision not to give them any more money for anything! They will not get anymore money out of me! If we all stop giving them money the problems will go away. (exits muttering) |

fair enough. Probably the wrong sort of thread to put up here anyway. I was just after some ideas rather than bad mouth CAMS. Sorry

Sorry but these days it just seems easier to bag them!
Who have you dealt with? The CAMS NSW office is almost useless and have a very high turnover of staff. I have found that you have to do a lot of research before trying to get anything from them as they will not know how or where to find anything, they will deny that it exists of will deny that it is their job! You need to go over the top of the state office and talk to guys like Bruce Keys or Greg Black depending on your problem and they may be able to point you in the right direction. (unless they are the guys causing the problem) Good luck! |

Thanks for the reply.
Im presently in the hands of Victoria ( having moved on from NSW) All I am trying to do is get my car inspected for a log book. My application was put in just after aussie racers who have been able to go from nothing to CAT6 to CAT3 since the start of the season. My car has not even been inspected as yet. They promised me a limited CAT6 but changed there mind. It is just annoying that these people can play with other peoples dreams and shatter them on a whim. |

Sounds normal!
12 years ago you would fill in the form and take two photos and go to the office and they would fill out the log book while you waited. Then you would turn up and race it! About 6 years ago you would take your photos and forms to the office and you had to pay extra to get the log book on the day! When that was the normal thing! If you did not pay the extra for priority issue they made you wait two weeks (when the could have just written it out on the spot) And now with everything on computers you should not even need to leave home but ............ Now you have to go through all sorts of rubbish and that is why I have given up! Last edited by Morris 1100; 20 Jul 2003 at 10:31. |

Maybe your right.
I have been talking to Garry Wilmingtom at Wakefield Park and I didn't realise that they carry their own insurance so instead of a one make series it might also turn into a one circuit series. Cheers |

Hybrid, what sort of car are you talking about?
Are you having problems with CAMS because of their "no new classes" moratorium? |

David - Correct, however you can have a new class if you go into a commercial agreement with CAMS. This costs big dollars.
Cat 6 is an interim category which allows you to race in speed events and hill climbs but excludes circuit. Its like a holding pen but they do issue you with your log books. |
