How about a Member List clear out?

It's jsut occurred to me that the member list has a lot of people who never posted, posted very little, or haven't posted for several years. As many of these joined first and took very common names as their usernames, this limits the number of potential names for new members. Maybe there's a need to free up some of those usernames?

I asked about this once myself Boots, and if I recall the answer was something like this:

1. A large number of members register and lurk. They may not post, but visit often (This way they can get the newsletter).

2. It would have to be done manually and nobody wants to spend months doing it.

Then how about keeping the newsletter subscription seperate from the forum subscription?
Again i think itll be very time consuming sorting stuff out so.........

How about forming the list of members who don't post in that sense adn send them an email, which they have to reply to within a month to keep their membership? I realise that this is still time-consuming, but much less so, and would eliminate those problems.

It would also require effort in deleting Email addresses that are no longer valid. As the forum does not actually send out `blanket messages', there is little to be gained. :confused: Perhaps a new forum could be established with a poll for `lurker's comments'? Still a lot of work.
