Blackjack Ff1600 ???

Whilst talking with Alan Minshaw at the Walter Hayes meeting, we discussed David Leslie getting his original Cross Flags Garage Royale RP24 back and actually racing it.

Alan said that he would like to get his hands on the Formula Ford he used to race and give Jason, Guy and Sarah a run for their money.

Does anybody have any idea what happened to the BLACKJACK FF1600? It was a modified Brabham [BT9 he thinks]

Over to you folks.

diz.

I can narrow the search a little , it's not in Australia, to the best of my knowledge.
We have 1 x Brabham BT15 / f.f convert over here only , that is the ex Team Promecon car of strangely Aust. driver in Europe Jim Sullivan , F3-3-65 , coverted circa 1968-9 , went to the U.S.A in F.F. form , stayed that way , came to Australia sometime in the 1970's and still the same I believe , and believed unused in Aust.

That's removed one continent from your search.
Bryan.

I suppose it would be too much of a coincidence for it to be the BT16 mentioned in the earlier thread?

Thanks. I've had a look at the Brabham BT16 thread. Do you know if the initials AM are usual within Brabham frame numbers?
Hopefully this may be a clue, as an AM [Alan Minshaw] is looking for one of his old cars

All spaceframe Brabhams of that time had (or should have had!) a proper factory chassis number - something like FJ-10-63 for the earlier cars and later in the style of BT23-1 etc
The actual chassis frames were made by Arch Motors and therefore shuld have a number like AM283 stamped on the chassis

Thanks David,
I'd forgotten about Arch Motors, so my coincidence theory has gone out of the window.
Looks like the search will have to continue. Alan seems to remember that his car was originally a BT9, but could have been a BTanything.

Diz,
The Blackjack FF1600 was a BT9,chassis number F3-1-64.If it still exists and Alan could find it,i am sure that it could be re-united with its chassis plate.
Regards
Ian

The BT9 will not have an arch motors No on the chassis,as the early frames were mainly made by Progress Eng later Racing Frames. The Bt14s were about the first Brabhams to use Arch.
