No reference to Zetec (was there ever, actually, other than colloquially?) but the press release I had yesterday referred to the UK Formula Ford Championship, so I guess that continues to be its name (rather than FF1800).

...... support. Just a couple of minor points, Ford tell me that we must no longer use the term 'Zetec', but use FF1800 instead. I will ........ From the Press Release you refer to One of the major factors behind the Formula’s success has been the consistent technical regulations. While the chassis have evolved on almost an annual basis to improve performance and also conform to increasingly stringent safety requirements, the 1600cc ‘Kent’ engine was used from 1967-1992, until being replaced by the 1800cc ‘Zetec’ unit from 1993 to the present day. And it is now referred to just as Formula Ford in the National, that's fine. The Clubmans is referred to as FF1800 |

We may be coming back!!The new championship organisers are really putting an effort into making this championship great again. They have managed to get Ford Motorsport to back the championship by offering a Jaguar or Jordan and a works WRC test drive.

If your looking at who would be the best teams to drive for BOBIE and you have the money to be able to choose, I wouldn't necessarily listen to all the Bull they have to say, I would look at who they have working for them i.e., mechanics, engineers and what the team works like over the course of a weekend. Go to the workshop and see what the environment is like that the cars are prepped, is it a proper workshop or just a smallholding out the back of a house somewhere!?
Some teams are cheaper for a reason, they usually skimp on something and that’s when things go wrong! innit Steve! (no implication intended!!) |

some teams can,t afford fancy trucks and workshops, but you can,t hold that against them this doesnt mean thay do a bad job.

I think you should be looking into the history of the teams and asking as many people as possible for their views, remember no one will say anything controversial on a public forum.

If you are going to do fford i think it is also important to have to have the right package in the term's of chassis and engine biulder.

Oh and remember all teams are run as a business, people can only do it for the love of it for so long.
Steve, not saying that small teams without the fancy stuff are incapable of doing a good job, given the money and driver they would be as good if not better then the top teams but its a sad fact that the money (which means talent) often goes to the fancy teams with the fancy trucks etc. |
