I love this game. I have CMR3, and while it was enjoyable (when you got used to the handling), it wasn't a great, felt to "arcady". Whereas 4, wow, its the series back to it's best. I'm loving hocking the cars up into 4 wheel drifts, and the onboard veiw is great. Plus the sound, you can hear the turbo's whistling away, (which i don't think 3 had in it), while the drive train screams away. Excellent.

Basically, if you don't own it, get it!

(and yeah the grp B's are a laugh, but remember no trick diffs like the WRC's, hence the predominate understeer. And I think I'm loving the Super 1600s a little too much....)

This game is gooooooooood! Much better than CM3 although even with the damage set to 'heavy' I'm still managing to keep the car relatively intact.

Good range of cars available as well (although where has the 6R4 gone?). Good to see the 205 T16 reappear and that awesome Audi is a complete monster. I could quite happily live without the 2CV and Transit though.

Good to see that the car setup option has been reintroduced for single stages - and tyre choice is now really important, it's amazing what a difference they make now.

I think I need to get out more.

It's good they brought back the fix car between stages bit as well. You have to choose carefully. On CMR3 you're car was always fully repaired at service.

This car has so much grip. It doesn't break into a slide ever!

Are you sure about that? That thing's an absolute animal, it has far more power than grip but that means you can get some really wild slides going. Not forgetting just how quickly you can shred the tyres if you're really trying!

I can definitely see why those things were banned, the WRC cars are much more drivable but the group B cars are far more fun! (Not sure why they dropped the 6R4 from this version of the game though)

Well I have found a class set-up that keeps the car glued to the track. No understeer and you can only induce oversteer yourself. Very good.

I can't find a set-up for it that gets rid of the oversteer on gravel (and boy do you have to get your tyre choice spot on! It just shreds them if you get it wrong).

Good fun though, I love those group B cars.

The car that's most difficult to set up is the Lancia 037. Mid engine-rear drive doesn't mix with loose surfaces.

As for tyre shredding, I ran off the track for a while on the USA. The track side gravel just destroyed my tyres and I had to trundle to the line on a front left tyre and a rear right tyre!!

Still won the rally though.........by less than a tenth! Phew!

I played the demo of CMR4 (PS2 version) with the Logitech Driving Force steering wheel. The force feedback was almost zero which made steering very difficult. Maybe this problem is only in the demo version. Does someone else use this steering wheel in combination with the full version of CMR4?
What's youre opinion?

Last year I preferred WRC2 above CMR3, but with the JWRC cars in CMR4 I prefer the last one. Only if the "steering problem" is also in the full version of CMR4 it can restrain me to buy it.

Try WRC3. There are moments when it really feels more like old style McRae than CM4 does. Just a shame you have to clock up huge mileages in each individual car to get the best versions. Back to CM4, I've never tried a wheel with it myself. But others I've spoken to about it (http://forum.officialxboxmagazine.co.uk) have tended to say the steering wheels aren't great for it, full stop.

I've just got CM4 on PS2, and the VW Golf is great!

So far, I've unlocked the 206, Golf, 2CV, MGC, Escort, 205, Imprexa 22B and Lancia Delta.

I just can't go fast on Greece though......18secs down after 2 stages on Advanced with a 206, and no accidents.

Played CM4 at a mates house the other day,it semmed like a big improvement on CM3. Best rally game since the original Sega Rally!

Maybe I'm getting old or something, but I've found CM4 pretty difficult after a year or two with the original PS2 WRC. I'm only picking up 'place' points on the easiest setting so far!! It's certainly more realistic though. The only bonus car I've picked up so far is the Mk1 Escort - proper thing!!

OK, here in the US we are always we behind in getting the racing games, but Colin 04 just came out on the Xbox here this week, and it kicks some serious ***! Wish I could've been playing it since last summer like y'all...

If it's a racing game and it ain't NASCAR or the IRL, you get it before us! Sometimes we don't get it at all! WRC 2 and 3 never made it over here. There's a good chance that the next F1 racing game won't be sold here, as well. If it is, it will be at least 3 months after you get your mitts on it. Don't even get me started on TOCA driver and the like...
