A podium for Eddie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eddie Irvine stood on the podium in Monaco this afternoon, the first time he has had the honour of finishing a race in the top three since the Japanese Grand Prix in 1999, his final race for the Ferrari team. Jaguar finally saw some reward for all their efforts by clinching their first points of the season and the Jaguar marque's first ever podium finish in Formula One racing.

Eddie did a great job to fend off a last minute charge from Jacques Villeneuve to bring his Jaguar R2 home in third place to secure four much needed championship points. While everyone at the team is delighted with this result, it remains pragmatic about the future and well aware that there remains a tremendous amount of work to do if there are to be similar results this season.

My disliking for him has mellowed since I saw a documentary on him a few weeks ago (from the 99 season). Well done, Eddie.

Well-deserved victory, Eddi. I think, it's very significant result: In Monaco one doesn't need a powerfull engine and great chassis, just driver skills. If on other circuits Jug looks poor, in Monaco Eddi was compatative.

I've ALWAYS SAID Eddie is one of the top 4 or 5 drivers out there. I no no other driver (except possibly TGF, but then again these days...) who works HARDER than Eddie. Monaco makes the best drivers rise to the top regardless of machinery. This result needs no further comment.

I have to say i was always an Eddie fan, even when he did criticize Schumacher. This is because he is honest and didn't criticize him out of resentment like other drivers have done. I hope the Jag team can come up so Eddie becomes one of the front runners like he deserves.
