on a side note, if this safety car period bunches up the field, Pescarolo could make a move on Peugeot could they not?

This spices up the battle both in LMP1 and LMP2... massive crash by Senna, ORECA is growing a reputation for spectacular shunts.

Very nice to see Pescarolo up there. Their cars are always reliable and all, but this kind of speed is a little unexpected. It seems to have the pace against the newer Oreca and Astons - quickest times consistently and even able to trade times with the Peugeot when it's not lapping at ultimate pace!

143 laps right? So a 4-5 or something like that sprint.
Kristian Poulsen in the Essex car for the first time (?). Not a good time. |

Good end to the race, enjoyed that.
Hopefully Senna's accident makes it onto youtube or something, very curious to see how that happened. |

Wow, that was a race...well worth the Eurosport subscription.
We´ll be in for a hell of a race at Le Mans this year judging by this. Congrats to Peugeot...flawless outing despite that lapping incident. The petrol cars are certainly much closer this year, AMR has to work out some kinks to be really competative though...some of their pit stops looked a bit messy. |

I'd have been happier with Eurosport if I hadn't had to spend the last hour swearing as it paused, and having to reset every minute or so!
A waste of money, IMHO... At least I got to watch most of the race, sometimes. Congartulations to Peugeot for their LMP1 win, and Pescarolo for the LMP1bis title... |

In short Peugeot vs. Perscarolo, Peugeot fastest lap 1.4s faster and 2 stops less.

Pescarolo played with cautions to fuel when they did not need it.. and was repaired at the beginning right?
Peugeot was on it for a short while with Pagenaud driving and aligned 3 straight laps faster than what any other cars could do all day. And then in the post-race interview they say they were working on lowering fuel consumption figures (Klien in his complete stint, Pagenaud in half of it)... You're supposed to have to push (at least a bit) to win and they were able to run extra-lean in front of the field!? At least the petrol cars could stay close and even on the lead lap - much better than anything that was possible last year with competition between the two diesel manufacturers and worst rules - but the gap is still gonna end up over 5 seconds at LM when the diesels push. |

Excellent work of Tinseau and Boullion. But one chassis to be rebuilt for Pescarolo and ORECA, four weeks before the pesage.

Even after today, Oreca, Pescarolo and AMR would be chuffed with a top 6 finish [basically, a points finish].

Presumably Pescarolo aren't quite so worried about the rebuild requirement given they've got the 908 for June.
Really appreciated the effort put in by Pescarolo in particular - but also Oreca - in that you got the impression they were interested in really winning it and not just letting the Peugeots romp into the distance. I'm starting to wonder if there's a little thought in the back of Henri's mind about whether the 908 in his team's hands will really be better than having a pair of his own LMP1s? |

The 908 almost never ran at full pace, neither ORECA nor Pescarolo are on the same level as the Diesels. Don't let Peugeot's relaxed run fool you. |

If you want the fuel milage you need to invest in the technology.
Aston Martin are introducing a direct injection V12 at Le Mans that will increase power and be more fuel efficient. AER and Judd need to invest in similar technology, if not for their current engines, then for their 2011 2l Turbo and 3.4l V8. If not, someone like Cosworth or Zytek could corner the market with an off the shelf direct injection engine and possible KERS system, afterall the chassis manufactuers are doing all they can with much improved cars. |
