SFurness should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Catherine and I are on the Thursday afternoon tunnel crossing (tickets haven't arrived yet) and were due to return on Monday afternoon.

Then I had one of my senior moments and booked a hotel for the Monday night instead of the Sunday night, so we'll probably stop over the extra day and return on the Tuesday.

Citroen at Le Mans

Hi Guys, sorry no postings for ages, won't go into the myriad problems, sure you all have/are experiencing the same! All being well the Citroen, Antonia and I will be racing in plateau one, papers are with FIA so cross fingers, car is nearly (!) ready. French Press have managed to come up with a picture of the car in different spec at a later race meeting in 1932 after it competed at Le Mans and put it against a picture of our nowhere near completed car at the Citroen event at Zolder that we took it to this year. Result half a page saying our car is nothing like the original. Great publicity! Oh well, c'est la vie as they say. Perhaps they will be persuaded to 'manger les mots' when they see it there. Good luck everyone and hopefully see you there. Celia

Hi all

Similar to Celia everything should be ready for next week: papers still with FIA in Geneva so hoping they will arrive and smooth the path: apparently problem is when two similar cars apply with different data: depending on how you define a port a 4 cylinder 4 1/2 Bentley has 16 valves and either 10 ports or 8 ports.........typically we declared the number of holes (ten) as opposed to branches on inlet and exhaust manifolds (8) prompting questions rather than issue of papers........

I will be arriving on the thursday morning and provided that I can get the promised old vehicle pass when I arrive I will probably have a spare parking permit for the Houx car park.

see you all there

HTP's

Hi John

As far as I am aware my HTP has all been signed off by the MSA (next to heathrow) and then it is all sent off to the FIA in Geneva where they review it and issue the formal papers: it is the Geneva lot that have asked the number of ports question I believe........

what value?

I'm delivering a car this afternoon, refitting the engine in mine this morning, hopefully check it out on the roller before Tue and then I can get properly excited . . . . Is it just me or does there seem to be a hell of a lot of people heading down to even if its just watch and soak up the atmosphere, it seems to have taken over as the event of choice to go and watch. I guess the Location helps no end.

I know this is a bit late (well very late) but does anyone know of any decent tour companies offering packages to the event? Or any advice re single accommodation / travel / tickets - everything I've seen re packages seems to be based on two people travelling but my wife can't go. I have the weekend free at short notice and and having never been before I thought I might see if anything is available at late notice. Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks, Gary

There was someone on here with a spare seat.
Its not a problem to find a bed and some of us have spare tickets.

Noted one one here.

Be brave my boy .We are in Teams 2 through 14 but for most of time will be in Grid 1 paddock with old green busses.

This will be my first Classic at Le Mans. Done the modern one several times, but really looking forward to the specatcle. I doubt we will be dissapointed. Hols the week before in the area, the Event, then tranquility again the following week Even a hotel for Sat late night/before dawn!

Then the Silverstone Classic, then SPA then another event at Silverstone!

Bliss, and a welcome change to competing on the hills.

Looking forward to a very strong British Team showing from you guys!

Citroen etc!

Passed FIA, on rolling road today all OK but going to be very slow even with more horsepower than we thought, (and that wasn't very much!) So all we have to do now (Ian has to do I mean) is finish it! Oh well nothing changes.

Great news John. Be really good to see you.....if the two of us can track down John Ruston, we can have a lively meeting of the 10/tenths 'grumpy old man's' (or perhaps the Grumpy Old Le Mans) club?
