I do quite like these sessions now. Glad they haven't touched Le Mans qualifying but this adds a nice tactical dimension.

Good strategy putting the first drivers back in. I noticed the start/finish line is earlier on the straight than tusc. Not sure I prefer that.

Red flag was very bad for the #8. Buemi had just finished his tire prepping lap and had started his first flying lap. Now he will have to rush to get in two decent laps on substantially more worn tires.

Edit: I was mistaken, he set a 49.1 before the red flag, so it didn't really affect them.

They had it all along and no one thought it. It looked like Audi from practice times, but Davidson and Buemi are super consistent. Wonder what the decision is on the #7 blocking.

It seems that Audi had electronic issues during qualifying that kept them from pushing for most of the session. Still, the #8 getting pole after Toyota seemingly struggled all weekend leads me to believe either they got lucky with improving track conditions, or at least they were sandbagging to some degree.

That's considering that the #7 didn't impress in qualifying or still had some issue.

The night practice photos in the rain of the WEC cars on the official WEC website are some of the best I have seen in a long time. I agree, the P1s are incredible!

I think Toyota was keeping some pace in hand but have good setups. Sarrazin went out when the track was stil wet, that wasnt the smartest. They were only a tenth off 2nd place though.

Lotus had a new transmission flown in earlier tonight. So hopefully things are good for them and they make a show of lmp1-L.

Problem for Lotus is actually a gear shift mechanism issue. They had to get a whole gear change mechanism/gearbox flown in in order to make the race tomorrow.

And Audi showed how important the lap trigger mechanism is on the LMP1 cars--it's the thing that provides a lot of the telemetry on the ERS and other items. With the new LMP1 formula, getting it to work can mean the difference between limping around at reduced speed to make sure you're meeting the ERS for sure, and going fast while meeting ERS.

Having to deal with that put them into Porsche/#7 Toyota range in qualifying. 1:50s might be good race pace if traffic is thrown in, but it didn't ensure a front row start.
